idotz.net Nightmare

Why, well I have owned a quite decent generic one word .com registered at idotz.net for some years now, was a push to make transfer easier on the seller who was not a domainer. Any ways long story short...

1.Got transfer code and made sure name was unlocked
2.Sent a request to transfer to Moniker several weeks ago
3.Nothing happened, no transfer success

Tried again and again, many emails between support at idotz and Moniker.

Moniker not only claims they are sending them the request they have sent it multiple times and written emails back proving it and phone discussions. Idotz simply claim "we never got it".

Also it is easy to confirm Moniker sent idotz privacy an FOA yet that request is not being sent to me, clear case of policy violation.

I am at a loss for words, just wanted to share, my next step is tbd, thank God I havent sold this name and offered a transfer out, deal would have died for sure.

Beware, idotz hasn't changed it's ways in nearly 10 years! Moniker has imo upped its game again and support was great for me even via email.

This just got more disgusting!

I originally went to transfer the name this year before it expired, well that clearly is not happening yet so I went to renew it lastnight. I paid via paypal and today I get an email stating due to fraud prevention I now need to fill out a ID form, Gov ID, Credit Card etc. I am also locked out of the account completely!

The kicker, the registrant info matches my paypal exactly and is the way I renewed it last year.

What I would like to know is besides a support line, who owns this company, who is the "man" in charge because I am days away from making this a legal fight.

On a side note the paypal transaction was BANK account funded, not cc and why I need to show a Gov ID and matching credit card is beyond me, it isnt even how it was paid and paid it was because paypal shows a completed transaction! They took the damn money lol

If I didn't know any better this feels like a theft or at the least road block after road block hoping I give up.

seems it got sorted by a call to their upstream partner, key systems
this is an old thread, but if nothings changed and are still part of...

moniker are part of key systems. so they should be to brute force it out or make them
I don't know would have to check if part of same 'stable'
if they are it wouldn't surprise me moniker staff didn't know about this lol

they need an official complaint to icann too

Thanks Pred, yes it looks like the idotz parent parent bought out Moniker and Snap as well. It appears asthough it is specifically an idotz team issue. I know Moniker would never do this, different people and different mentality I suppose. Whoever has been running idotz the longest is likely the disease.


I have one other trick up my sleeve before I take it up a notch, will report back at end of week

I know I know, got lazy and kept saying "next year", now I feel like I am not allowed to renew without jumping through hoops all because I dared complained I cant transfer out. When I realized the transfer was not working and than today being locked out and having to start faxing unneeded info.

Wow, so no transfers accepted on their end for weeks, no forwarding of the foa from moniker, no option to renew without givng up sensitive info to them that they never needed last year and has no relation to how I paid and now the auth code is killed as well. Keep in mind I paid via paypal from a bank account, would you give these people your drivers license and credit card LOL It doesnt even make sense, the domain has my company Name as registrant how can my photo id and cc match it? And even if I needed to match it I am locked out and better yet they are not allowing a transfer any ways,w ho can steal it lmao this is hilarious.

Who knows specifically who I need to talk with at KeySystems, I do not believe anything good will come out of a discussion with an idotz support call.

I spoke with the VP of Key Systems this morning, she was an incredibly nice lady and very helpful and understanding of the siutation without going into too much detail, she seemed to understand what appeared to be going on.

I have taken her advice on the next step and will see where this goes.

Just talked to idotz.net themself, about to jump through hoops they have set up, wish me luck. Basically they are saying since they now see a piece of the whois (any piece) they felt was not proper like 9999999999 for phone they flagged it and locked me out, so I have to submit proof of ownership now. My mistake, gave them a reason I guess, they said without faxing/scanning proof they will allow the name to delete.

Even if ICANN policy allows this I have to accept they refused transfer away, made it impossible to change registrant info, locked me out, killed auth code all after I found a way around them and that was out of a good natured place?

I am taking some depth breathes right now, wish me luck, Ill cave and cave hard but sometimes you need to humble yourself I guess.

They also mentioned they are no longer going to be under Key Systems and moving away from them so for what its worth, congrats to Key Systems!!!! lol

End of day hopefully Ill get it out, would I use them again, google idotz.net for yourself for the answer. Apparently transfering out sets off a lot of issues. It seems if you take issue with them they find a policy reason to play with you. I found one where the guy went to transfer out, couldnt, complained and suddenly he is locked out and told he is a spammer, lost emails and all. This seems like a registrar you want to not get mad.
