Beginning of 2021 I've seen lots of sales record of .io domain name. Some generic word also sold at high price which was amazing.

Recently, I feel like the sales rate dropped than previous. As per Namebio its also visible that .io can't hold the hype anymore.

Whats your opinion?

Hi

if,
.io popularity was based on hype, then you'd expect it to fade sooner or later.
as all of the money around .io now, is in the aftermarket.
bidding on short domains and single word names.

however, many two-word domains in .io extension, have no resale value..... because they are not like .com in that respect.
additionally, the renewal fee is higher than .com

still, most who do build a website on .io will do so because .com isn't available to register
and many times after they get some investor cash, then they'll go and try to buy the .com later.

imo....

Your points of view is totally true. But lots of .io registered after getting some sales news of io names.

Recently the sales records are fading away.

Many of us holding a lot of two words io domains as well that seems a loss investment now.

Hi,

NameBio doesn't cover sales from everywhere.

If you have single word .io especially in the technology niche then you don't need to listen to the hype.

Everyday many sales get happen not everyone report it.

One month is a small sample size, gotta give it a bit more time to determine that. Its a variance game after all. On a side note, South Hampton FC (really fun club to watch...Ings, Ward Prowse, Che)plays in the biggest Football/Soccer league in the world (English Premier League) will have a .io as main kit sponsor. Sportsbet.io The English Premier league saw 3.2 World Wild views in 2018-2019 (that's a third of the world's population). Im not saying to domainbet.io on .io but maybeworthebet.io
