Hey

Im 14 and I love dealing with domains and websites and want to do it when I get older. So I was wondering..... Is domaining your full time job? Or do you work somewhere else but just do domaining as a side note. I think it would be cool to buy/sell domains all day long for huge profits.

Thanks in advance.

I'm in the online poker/casino biz myself, domains are a hobby.

I've built up a collection of about 300 domains over the past year or so and made my first sale last month (I haven't started promoting them yet) for £2,500 - not bad for a $6.95 reg fee :)

I'm not sure what kind of a market pace will be around when you get old enough to do it for a job. So do what your parents say, stick in at school and go to college to get a good education :)

At 14 you may have some oppurtunity to see trends in fashion, games and other things that effect yutes. Keep your ears open for new terms or trends and you might get lucky. Also unless you have unlimited finances limit yourself to a budget
Good Luck
Just a side line for me
PS: the best name I own for income and traffic i got by monitoring what my 15 year old son typed in browser

Thats cool, its just this is something I want to do when I grow up, I use to want to be a cop, but now I want to work on the internet. Because after all...technology is our future, and I love it. Everyone at my school says im a prep/computer nerd ....lol...Even the teachers at my school ask me questions about how to do stuff on the computer... :charming:

Please, at 14, do not even THINK about your future job. You will have LOTS AND LOTS of time to do that when you are old enough. Go fool around, do some silly things. Unless your family really needs it, don't even work for money part-time; instead, work for fun, for the satisfaction, for the praises. ;)

work for fun, for the satisfaction

exactly why I am in this business...

I am a student so domaining is like a part time hobby/business for me

The most important things are to get out, have fun, work hard in school and enjoy life, domaining is just an activity I find amusing...

as for a future job, well I'm probably going into Commerce in University, but after that I would probably rather start my own business - hopefully something on the net, but I'm really not sure yet.

Ditto for me

I am in my last semester of law, and have always been into PCs... I got into domaining when I quit my part time job earlier this year.

I wanna get into IT law or Intellectual Property once I have some experience under my belt

Nice topic. My primary "job" is running a web media / graphics and software design (we do a lot of things) company that I own. I have a few people that work for me as well. I find great satisfaction is a job well done, which is exactly why I enjoy working for myself. There's less satisfaction regardless of how nice the final product looks when somebody else is getting all the profit and you are doing all the work.

I started purchasing domains by the dozen this year actually. I bought about 40 this year. I don't see domain trading as my main source of income, at least not in the near future.

I'm trying to do Domains full time, sometimes things go good and sometimes not so good. If possible it would be nice to have a full time job offline, just to ensure a steady paycheck.

I have mostly been able to match my monthly wages I used to earn when I worked offline. The major plus is that I work from home doing something I enjoy and am able to spend more time with my better-half and baby girl :)

nice work Tippy :)

its a scary world when you dont have another job and are trying to use domains to fund you life - I went nearly two months (basically the entire summer) without almost any sales, then school hits in September and I have had the best 6 weeks of my domain career by far...

but I certainly agree being able to work from home, setting your own hours and being able to do the things you love instead of working a full 8 hour day in an office, is an amazing situation

A good topic,I think many people have got enough money from domain business, and some of them only do domain business, but as you know,if you have a lot of money you will not ONLY do this domain business.

And ,you are only 14 years old.I hope you can spend more time on play game with your young friends and enjoy it.Do not always spent time on earn money.Because every one only have one childhood.

My cousin Vinny...hehehe...

As to the question, for me its just a hobby but I make more from it then I did with my first job, and sure the hell beats out being a couch potato in between jobs.
