On March 08-14, 2025, it.com Domains joined ICANN82 Community Forum in Seattle, Washington, USA. Joe Alagna, Chief Strategy Officer, Tess Diaz, Director of Channel Development, Sergey Gorbunov, Director of Registry Services, Rolandas Japertas, Business Development Manager and Alessandro Baruffi, Director of International Partnerships, represented the company at the event.

The ICANN82 (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) Community Forum is the first of an annual cycle of three meetings. At this forum, participants from different sectors such as registries, registrars, businesses, governments, and civil society get together to talk about policies, security issues, and the future of domain names. The event lasts six days, during which various meetings and discussions take place.

This year, participants discussed topics such as how to prevent DNS abuse, how to keep WHOIS data (a public database that stores data about domains, their owners, registration periods, and IP addresses) private and the upcoming wave of applications for generic top-level domains (gTLDs).

ICANN meetings are always a great way to connect with our registries, resellers, partners, and friends. At it.com Domains, we make it a priority to attend all of them. Beyond the policy discussions, ICANN meetings are also a place where we can learn, share ideas, and build relationships. At the event, we met our partners and made new connections. We also introduced our RSP (Registration Service Provider) to our network,

This year it.com Domains attended the event as a gold sponsor and introduced our Registry Service Provider (RSP) program. It’s a system for managing domain extensions. With RSP, the domain suffix administrator can easily organize the registration of domain names and manage them effectively by issuing confirmations, renewals and cancellations. Additionally, they can contact registrars and accept payment for domains from them.

The excitement is growing as we get closer to the launch of new generic top-level domains (gTLDs). Next Round of New gTLDs will be an opportunity to apply for and, subsequently, run your own domain extension. Anyone can apply as long as they meet ICANN’s requirements. The application window is set to open in April 2026, and we’ve met many people who are seriously considering applying for a new gTLD. That’s why ICANN82 was a great opportunity to discuss our program. The RSP will help new gTLD applicants get their own extensions, just like .xyz and .online did in 2012. This will make them part of the Internet infrastructure,

At our stand, everyone could get acquainted with the program and learn the details of interest. We also held a Know Your Domains contest there—a quiz on the domain industry. The winner was Jan Horak, CEO of Gransy Group, an it.com Domains’ Registrar that specializes in wholesale domain sales with resellers worldwide.
