might be hard to find one available though, unless population is very small

i own a one word city name in .org, it gets some traffic and earns a few $ from ppc.

Owning such a name could be good or bad it's all depends on how you handle things at the end.

The case of France.com is almost unique. The same happened with NewZealand.com many years ago. A country's tourism office or government can play hardball. The French did not surrender!
