Anyone else follow the Jacket.com sale? I had bids on it on every drop catching place known and then some and it just vanished.

On Godaddy they are reporting:
The domain expiration date has been changed:
OLD: 30-jul-2011
NEW: 30-jul-2018

Another whois is reporting...

So any idea what happened to it? End user renewed it? Or did one of the drop catchers keep it for themselves?

I don't see how it could have been renewed when it was in pending delete.

A name can be renewed up to the very last day...hence pending.

Really...I've tried like hell in the past and have always came up empty. I guess if you are registrar its a totally different ballgame (but an very unfair one).

Thanks Stian and Dejan!

If it was on drop list till last day then I'm sure registrar must have held it back!

This domain did not delete.

This should have been a Namejet prerelease domain since it is with Tucows.

Also I saw this:
Registration Service Provider:
in2net network inc.(Domain Division), [email protected]

Seems like some company owned by one of the dropcatching companies got the domain.

As far as I know once the domain hits the 5 Day Pending Delete status it is not reversible.

As to what went on here I have no idea. It looks to be like there is some BS going on one way or another.

This domain should have deleted. The registration date should be that date. How it kept the 1997 date and did not drop I have no idea but it needs to be explained.

When a domain is in Pending Delete Phase, no one is allowed to renew the domain and it cannot be yet registered because its still not returned to the public domain pool. After the 5-day Pending Delete Phase the Registry will release the domain name back into the public pool of available domain names enabling fresh registration.

So now the question, if the owner didnt renew, why did they let a $20k purchase drop?

At the worst the domain was in redemption, but not registry pending-delete.
I have seen Tucows repossess domains even after they let them into redemption.

One example: adulthosting.net entered redemption a while back then was 'rescued'. And it is now available on yummynames.com.

Is it typical for domains pulled out of redemption to have so many bids at so many drop places? I'm fairly certain it was in pending delete but did not take a screen shot so I can not say 100%.
