Drop doesn't look right. Reg times are real slow. Nothing released so far, maybe there was problems.

One registrar has sent notice there was a problem - at least on their end.

namespro had a terrible week last week. I had just about every high bid there last week and they got me nothing at all. :(

The $550 is rvrental, ppv is in there as well I believe.

Some others:
queencharlotteislands.ca $300.00
whistlerhotels.ca $300.00
governmentgrants.ca $350.00
puck.ca $380.00

I find that 99% of the time namespro won't get a popular name. The only slot worth bidding for is their #1 spot which occasionally gets lucky and can pay off bigtime. My other use of namespro is to go after names that I'm virtually certain won't be bid on by others, and they get picked up automatically at the end of the drop... after all, all the names I keep end up there anyway since they're the best registrar period.

Namespro is a great registrar with outstanding customer service. but their tbr success isnt worth the work involved in fighting for topspot on several names in one sitting. Even though I dont use their tbr system, I still keep alot of domains there.

I was bidding on 90 domains today. I only got 6 and am in post reg for 6. One of the post reg was my top pick and I didnt spend even close to my budget this week, so expect to be outbid :)

I did all my bidding yesterday and was out all day so I missed out on some snipe bids. I was only able to make the effort at a few places unfortunately. To get the names you want, you have to bid at almost all the places and for the maximum amounts.

I would agree with the comments about Namespro. Great registrar, but haven't had much luck with their tbr system. I have snared the occasional name there, but as Beaker has experienced, it's usually if the names aren't being contested by many other people...

I've had the opposite experience with namespro drops thus far - I get the ones that have the mid to high level bids, but then it's been some time since they have gotten me even one of those..

ppv is just under $2000 with just over an hour left.

ppv would be a very nice snag if you had development plans for it...

I just watched two domains where I was the only bidder pre-drop at sibername get bids in the final minutes - highly annoying. I just let them go. Another was bid up to near my top proxy bid. I'll say it again - if you are the only bidder pre-drop you should get the domain. Reward those who place lots of bids - not those who squat and swoop in.

Grrr.. I'm a bit steamed.

In my experience that is not unusual Roy...at least with Siber if you are bidding on a name and someone else joins in...they extend the auction by 3 minutes each bid....so you aren't getting sniped..

Roy with all due respect if you see that the name is being bid upon before the drop and do not want to raise the price too highly it makes sense to wait until a registrar has caught the name and then bid. I do sympathize with you however i can see both sides.

They should hide the pre-bids at sibername if anything like namespro does. Then that forces people to bid on domains they want pre-drop. Like pool, namespro, fastwebserver etc etc - only bidder - get the domain. More than one - it's auction time.

But seven days 23 hours and 57 minutes with one bid then someone swoops in - that gets my goat. Especially so since they are bottom feeder domains that have little value without development!

The ones that happened to me like that last week are now parked and will probably stay that way until next year when they are dropped again because of no traffic and no end-user interest. And I'll be the only bidder again till the final minutes and I'll be all pissed off again! LOL

The circle of life of a tbr bidder.

One registrar has sent notice there was a problem - at least on their end.

This was one of the most poorly run TBR sessions imho. Here are a few things I noticed.

TBR Reg Times:
(results from http://www.sibername.com/tbr/results.php)

1 2008/01/09 14:00:00.333981 rr.ca
2 2008/01/09 14:00:00.537705 ppv.ca
3 2008/01/09 14:00:00.640674 pharmaceutical.ca
4 2008/01/09 14:00:00.780225 nicole.ca
5 2008/01/09 14:00:02.331204 detective.ca Arctic Names Inc.

Never has the first drop been snagged so slow past 14:00:00.000000. With a time of 14:00:00.333981, you would be lucky to be in the top 10.

Never have only 4 registrars snagged names in the first 2 seconds. 30+ names are already registered by this point in all previous TBR sessions.

The entire TBR session is slow. Compare reg times to any previous TBR and you will see how slow this TBR session was.

Funky Sibername Afterdrop TBR Auction

I hand regged this afternoon 2 names that were backordered at Sibername and were in the extended auction. One was actively bid on today.

I am not sure why a complex TBR session is needed. Why is this process not like before simple and sweet. Names just drop we compete in all fairness. Making the drop process complex doesn't make sense to me.
