I have known Jon Yantis since summer 2001. This man has money, and he is serious. For anyone that follows MMOs, you will know who IGE is, and Yantis was a driving force.

I have sold multiple sites to him before. He can definately spend that much, and he is definately not spamming.

Of course spam (impersonal, automated bulk email) does pay for some folks, such as some domain name buyers who prey on registrants who respond who don't realize they're being lowballed big time; are added to the "suckers" list for further exploitation.
