Has anyone noticed BuyDomains increasing the amount of domains they are shooting for? Do they have a standard practice of snapping up as many domains as they can? I have NO inclination to BUY from them at all, but (sniff) apparently I just lost my SnapBack to them.

Disturbing when you're working to develop a website, hoping you'll be the one to catch a drop, and suddenly its caught by someone else, and all the record says all over it is "Buy-This-Domain!" Nice! I expect the domain to exist in "buy me" limbo for a while to come now.

Not a big deal, as I'll just change the name of the website, but it's a little dissappointing. Bah!

If I were inclined to buy from them,
I'm clear how the exchange would go:
1.) How much is this domain, the price isn't listed.
2.) Hi, this domain is valued at $300.
3.) It's not worth that!
4.) No reponse.

:) Off to exchange my SnapBack...

In light of all this, especially with recent dotster success,
it may be not worth to buy $49 snaps with limited exchanges now. I'm happy I did not buy any "limited" snap...

You built a website based on having the snap on a domain?

Sheesh.

Hello? Anybody home?

Probably HALF the people HERE have that as their goal.

Count me in, for starters.

buydomains pricing is outrageous anyways. I enquired a while back for idsonline.com, just to test them. $30,000. Laughable. Then they dropped the price to 27,500 and I told them , point blank, F***Off.

A client of mine had inquired about "advantageinc.com", but when they saw the asking price of "at least" $688 (or whatever it was back then), it seemed a bit outrageous (mostly on principle, and not by the somewhat twisted logic they post on the bottom of their "request a price" form). So, my client has been running under the name they regged instead for years now, and that BuyDomains name is still for sale.

It's ironic that on a smaller scale, I'd consider doing a similar system, but I certainly feel in some cases, its tip-toeing past what I think is reasonable. Whether its BuyDomains or Ultimate Search, somehow its a little more irksome than some nebulous individual with no clear purpose. I've run into more than a few people who went looking for names, landing on BuyDomains, and weren't sure if this simply wasn't the way to get a domain name in the first place. No doubt they book enough revenue to make it worthwhile.

I found one of their pop-ups amusing the other day:

Ouch. Someone there has a sense of humor.

BuyDomains is a good domain grabber, and they are nice people too. BuyDomains will sell domains for reasonable prices.

Try communicating with UltSearch!!!

Damn right you are, nex. Buydomains are still lviing in the past. I recently enquired for a totally average, non-profit generating name and they said $5,000.

No wonder most of their names sit to rot.
