Hi everyone,

For some who don't know, Brett Lewis is another attorney who specializes in
domain name disputes (especially trademark infringement ones). But he joined
here as a gold member.

Obviously he can't post and participate in the legal section since it's been now
moved to Platinum. To that end, I'd like to ask whoever's reading this to kindly
donate any DNF you can spare to upgrade his current DNF status.

Currently DNF indicates it costs $3500 DNF to upgrade from gold to platinum.
Brett's profile shows he's only earned $159 DNF prior to the move.

John Berryhill has commented before that this "forum's value has been upped
by an ante", or something like that. It so happens I agree with that, so I will
start by donating some DNF to Brett. (which I really don't have much use for
anyway. :D)

Any amount helps. Thanks.

unless someone donates all of that, probably would be easier just to say $35.00 :)

I'm for it, I donated directly. Hope he doesn't spend it all on a glowing username or something like that!

I don't know. I have to pay to promote my practice even if I do offer a valuable service. Uncle Sam says it's tax deductible. Sure it's nice to get free advice but don't forget he receives exposure in return (= potential clients)...

No kidding, this is a really strange request...

This attorney can't afford the $35 upgrade fee on their own?

In a first time I found this thread funny because I thought the same.

After I quickly realized that what was trying to be done here was simply to send a to Brett a STRONG "welcome!"

When you invite someone at home you do not ask him to pay for the dinner, no?

Regular members thought that it will be of interest having another lawyer participate in this community and it's a good idea.

The minimum we can do is not ask him to pay a fee when his comments should certainly be very valuable.

Welcome Brett!

Crazy idea. Belittling even to the esquire, I would have thought. Can you imagine JB accepting DNF$ for an upgrade? Of course I can't speak for him, but I'm guessing that would be anathema. Oh well, DNF is always full of fun and surprises.

Brett is a helpful and knowledgable attorney but really, how absurd is all this crap about begging for members to donate a measly insignificant $35 to a well known high payed lawyer which lawyer sometimes expects to get a few thousand dollars in a retainer fee to start work on someones potential case.

If I was Brett I would not like to see this belittling to him thread where the members act like he either can not afford $35, or perhaps he does not think it a good investment to upgrade his membership here himself. How ridiculous is this anyway!

How about sending me some free money since I have contributed vast amounts of free knowledge here for almost 5 yrs?

P.S. Of course the above line was said in jest :) any donations I receive are refunded.

Does this attorney have your permission to make him look he needs a handout? I doubt he knows you are doing this, and I doubt he would approve. It certainly does not help his professional image.

Points taken. But I indeed thought of doing this as a favor, and he has never
ever asked me to do this at all.

Unfortunately for me I hadn't thought that far. In which case, lesson learned.

Sorry about that, everyone. Carry on.
