I won't close it, it's up to you, but you may want to mention that he did not know you were doing this, and it's a surprise for him, if that is the case. Looks better that way. Otherwise some may assume he's asked you to do it.

I read you. Thanks.

To whoever is reading this: please don't let my honest mistake make you think
any less of Mr. Lewis' ability. Again, I was doing this as an unsolicited favor,
and never ever did he ask me to do anything of this sort for him.

If any of you have a "problem" with me, take it up via PM.

Dave, don't feel bad about it. It's a great use of DNF$ and Brett should take it as nothing other than a compliment and a statement that his involvement here is greatly appreciated.

Looking at my opening thread, I realize I "forgot" to state this is an unsolicited
favor. Amazing how some appearingly little things we overlook tend to make a
big difference.

Ah well, I hope those reading this learned something good from my boo boo. I
know I have. :)

I'm for it, I donated directly. Hope he doesn't spend it all on a glowing username or something like that!

Yeah, I dont know whats worse, those image verification thingys or glowing usernames that use a poor choice of colors!

It was a real nice gesture from David asking us to donate, even though he could of upgraded on his own.

Hello forum,

Dave Zan just emailed me that he had made this post, which I think had only the best intentions, but, to clear the air:

1. No, I did not know about it.
2. I did pay the $35 to upgrade to Platinum on January 13, but the upgrade wasn't processed until today.
3. I am very appreciative of everyone who chipped in their points, and would ask that they get their points back.
4. I wouldn't know what to do with a glowing user name.

This is a great forum. I'm glad to be back.

Brett

I'm starting a collection for David Beckham to buy him a nice warm coat.
Doubtful he will need one in L.A. but I think he could use one sitting on the bench. Madrid cool this time of year? :approve:

My personal wishlist:

1. An 18-speed bike with at least 9 speeds (see "A Scanner Darkly" for joke)
2. A multi-blend coffee maker
3. A Parking company that doesn't rip me off

I did not given anything to upgrade Brett.
The only reason is because it was too late when I read this thread.

...

We all know that the upgrade cost is peanuts!
It's not a shame for Brett to accept this invitation.
At the inverse, I think he should appreciate this proof of interest.
Again, the meaning of this donation is simply:
"Hey Brett, we are a community of domain enthousiasts, it's an emerging industry and we will appreciate a lot you participate in our forum. We are sure we should learn from your experience and share some knowledge."

...

Thanks to our ads we know the traffic of DNForum and NamePros:
Do you know the huge amount of guests these sites are receiving?
Do you know the number of visits from members is simply the top of the iceberg?
Did you notice that a huge amount of members simply read and never post?
How many lawyers posted in DNForum these last 3 months?

All that can be done to improve the quality and interest of this growing community must be done (idem for NP).
And YES, if tomorrow a Microsoft representative or someone that may give us another point of view of interest come, we should say WELCOME!

If someone is bringing "value" to the community (a VIP as a young domainer) we should take it as a norm, because we should all benefit.

ALL my DNF are available for that purpose.

Doh!

In any case, I want to thank everyone who participated in this thread. Those
who donated DNF, gave their comments, etc.

Now get back to work! :D

Okay. Anyone who makes it to DUMBO in Brooklyn (maybe I should limit to the first 100?) gets a drink. I hope they will accept DNForum points. :)
