Nope.
I checked. They were regged on 9th August & have never dropped

i rechecked a list of over 500 earlier today w/ godaddy. so i had to the list in 2 halves. i submitted the first half of N-N-N.coms and godaddy returned 1 as available .. i think 8-2-1 but not certain. anyway, i then scanned the second half of the list, to find their was none available. so i rescanned the first half figuring i would reg 8-2-1, ... and poof .. it wasn't available anymore. ..this is within less than 60 seconds.

i have a hard time believing it got snapped up within the 60 seconds that i had last checked, though it is possible. it made me a little concerned about godaddy. also because i recall another thread recently where someone posted a similar situation that godaddy gave them a few names that were already regged for some reason. just FYI. not sure if its anything or nothing.

Homer, I've reg'd mine through GD, and earlier today 3 were dropped, I tried registering them and got only one of them, another member got 2, it is a case a lot of people are chasing them now. Best of luck next time.

I checked the list today and reg'd 8-5-1 and 8-3-7 (the only 2 showing as available). Maybe 8-5-1 was what you saw, and it was just coincidence - I reg'd at Dynadot...

Thank you Pred

looks like another 50 L-L-L.com have been regged since second scan
showing 5903 on my short test scan.

you sure are right. i just spent a good 2-3 hours digging deep into the list, checking google, overture, etc., and finally came up with a short-list of top L-L-L, to find that 4 of 10 had been snatched up within the 4 hours since your last list posting.

let me just mention, one of the 3 letter combinations i discovered had 12,000 direct overture score, and xx,xxx, possibly low xxx,xxx more related searches, and about 32,000,000 google results. thought i was going to nail a premo :disappointed:

i also, after much time spent, would like to share a little of what i've found about some of these so called non-premium letters. I'm finding there are many more acronyms in use than you might think, such as

Q = for Queensland, Quebec, Queer etc.... On a side note, I was randomly typing in QLL's into google and did not get less than 250,000 search results for any possible combination ... many results were in millions. there are plenty of Q acronyms out there.

X = i found this is often used for eXchange (think stock exchanges etc.), eXtension (think file extensions, ... .exe)

Z = many good chinese names. one i picked up was T-Z-U. ... which appears in shih tzu (litte barky dog) sun tzu (wrote the art of war) lao tzu (famous chinese philosopher i think) etc. etc. over a billion Chinese and a very popular surname. i also notice that there are a ton of N-Z-? and ?-N-Z left, and there is this country called new zealand .... might be worth a $6 reg.

U = lots of Universities, Uniteds, Universals, Unlimiteds, etc.

while these non-premium letter combinations may not take top dollar they are still at some time likely going to be worth something to someone somewhere, and i'm sure worth more than you paid once these things run out as everyone is saying. there are still a number of decent regs left imo. even among the Qs, Us, Xs, Ys, and Zs

there were plenty left with over 10,000,000 search results, so i wouldn't bother with 250,000. I've reged a bunch of them, and none under 50,000,000. search results dont mean everything though

Agree to almost all that. Nice post.
I don't like 'u' on the end though. I know can be universal etc, but tends to be 'university' 'union' etc & not for profit
Just my opinion
Anyway..
I said before i believe 'w' a premium letter for a host of reasons.

Also, normally i would say 'z' is a hideous letter.

However some combinations can be like Gold.
Especially for the German market, which outside the U.S market is probably the most internet savvy, with the most hideous domains lol
They think nothing of 3 word hyphenated .de's
:smilewinkgrin:

I went through the list & found 10 'z' L-L-L .coms with Big enduser appeal imo

'z' appears so much in their language & all these performed well with potential endusers in mind..

Some would take the 'z's last
THINK AGAIN IMHO

Z-D-G.COM
Z-Z-E.COM
Z-F-P.COM
Z-Z-M.COM
Z-M-A.COM
Z-F-B.COM

It is important to bear one thing in mind.

We are typing English, speaking English, and referring to English speaking words when we talk mostly on this forum.

As Pred mentioned, Z is a great first letter in German.

Time for a great many domainers to wake up and come to the realization that the internet is not just for the english speakers. I know, I know...I have stated this many times. I have even had people on this forum say they don't give a damn what goes on in China, or India, or Asia. To each their own.

But here is a little test:

Go to Google.com.

Type in the letter Q for your search. One billion fifty million returns (1,050,000,000). Now that is supposedly ALL global regions returns for one search.

Now go to Google.cn.

Type in letter Q.
One Billion, 300 million results (1,300,000,000)

Z=1,910,000,000
Y=2,860,000,000
X=2,750,000,000
U=2,070,000,000

So guess where the most likely market for these "vile, useless" letters will be? If those letters are appearing that often on Chinese websites, then that is a pretty good indication that many of the "experts" are just plain wrong.

In the Anglicized Chinese spelling of towns, villages, history, culture, folklore, mythology, peoples names, Q, X, Y, Z are very very common.

I own hundreds of LLLL beginning with these letters in both the .com and .net. I have no plans what so ever of dropping them. The same for the letter U. My sales for the LLLL.com have been steady and good, mostly private dealing, many to China and Taiwan buyers but also to the Middle East and Persian/Arabic nations.

This is just food for thought and not all things appeal to all people. But it is also a damn shame to listen to or read advice from people who claim that something is not good because it is available therefore no one wants it.
