you don't even know what the name is or what type of traffic it is...

He's in here worried he might have legal issues with the whole thing...

...are you saying you'll give him $400k sight unseen right now?

...yeah, I didn't think so.

dude he gave me all the info on the domain its a very big domain in that industry..so ..... i know... i have the info... i would not put 400k if it was not a 400k domain

Are you Matt ?

Looks like it was not expiring/deleting just a straight change of ownership. on the 27th theres, on the 4th yours.

I am confused here, looked at whois history, no indication of anything but an ownership change. So this all occured due to a backorder of a name that wasnt expiring ?

Yes... sort of. there is a lot more to the story but there are reasons I don't post specifics here.

If you place a backorder thru godaddy for a domain at godaddy, the domain will first go to godaddy acution & then if no one bids, the domain is transferred to the person who placed the backorder...not sure how it could be straight backorder?

Which explains your uneasiness with the legalities, hence your post in this forum in the first place.

It's all too unusual. Even if this entire thread (started by Azanmi and "supported" zealously by BigBoyDog) was legitimate, I have to believe that the domain is either going to be:
1. Returned to the previous owner
2. Sold by Azanmi, followed by a lawsuit
3. A precedent sale in domaining

...but I am unsure if I have clear title to sell.

You already know the answer to this or you'd have never brought it up.

How hard have the lawyers been hitting you so far?
... Don't think they'll just "go away" any time soon...

Anyone that does their due diligence completely on this name will run (not walk) away.

TM's trump stupidity, like it or not - that is the truth.

I don't get it; if it was a lateral transfer at the registrar itself, how the hell can azanmi held accountable?

If the registrar transferred it to him by mistake, they should be the one getting hit with lawsuits, not him

the TM trumps the name.

sure, the Registrar -and whatever other idiots caused this to occur in the first place- will be on the hot seat but the basic fact is the TM Holder will prevail, regardless of how the name changed hands.

Imagine you somehow found Pepsi.com in your BloDaddy account one day because you thought "what the heck, I'll backorder it" Do you really think you'd end up keeping it?

...and the fact that it was, indeed, a lateral transfer makes it even more of a slam dunk. The name was not "deleted" and then re-registered.

Just my opinion but, as JP said earlier... it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Hey thanks guys for the back and forth. A settlement was reached and non-disclosure signed. I no longer own the domain.

so what happened? Was the name returned to the original owner for a price or sold to someone else?
