That's not many then.. they'll get registered quickly

~MG
My guess is tens of thousands. And then thousands more drop while people are registering those. And so on.

So until people simply stop dropping them or letting them expire, there will probably be an endless supply trickling out. And God knows how many were snatched up simply for tasting. I would guess that 95% of those picked up for tasting have no natural traffic. So they'll be tossed back.

Someone showed me a list yesterday and wanted to know why so many .mobi were dropping if it had not even been a year.

I said look at the date of registration. Most were less than 3 days old. Stupid waste of time and money. Most were blatant TM violation names, most were financial institutions or stocks or funds, and 99.99% would not have had any traffic to begin with. Many were adult related, many were Microsoft or other infringements and so on.

Point is, no traffic = no clicks = no revenue.

Thousands will simply be recycled.

I was curious to see if I could randomly enter some "bad" LLLL.coms in WHOIS, to see if I could pick some of the newer registrations. I was surprised at how many "bad" ones were registered months or years earlier, a few were by Chinese registrants...

No way, unless it is an exceptional LLLL.com, would I even give consideration to paying a backorder.

Yes, on the $60.00.

This is just on letter of over 400 coming up (or already up) by about the 7th.

I can not see many LLLL being worthy of a $60.00 backorder. Then, whenever something like that does come along, it is heavily fought over.

I like the ones that simply slip through the cracks. Usually available for reg fee...or less.

Which ones are good? (I'd have to disagree with you)

This is only letter Z, which is not the best letter

There are many with all premium letters expiring as well. I've backordered a few :)

About 100 domains show up as expiring each day

Interesting..just remembered this thread. LLLLs did have their run (at some point with minimum prices going into 50s?), but now have definitely fallen. Although I think they are still all regged, is that correct? I think both the oversupply and the general economy downturn is to blame.

I still think garbage LLLLs are worthless :D

I've always thought garbage LLLL.coms are worthless, but quality LLLL.coms are still great IMHO. The LLLL.com bubble was awesome though, everyone went crazy over LLLL.coms. Non-pronounceable, premium letter LLLL.coms was bid up to $x,xxx by resellers. Good times.

RichInCollege you were spot on the money. The LLLL buyout is/was artifical and driven by speculation.

Garbage is garbage - even in LLL.com and LL.com.

Sure, those are all highly sought after.

But garbage exists in all classes and categories of domains.

UVX.com would not be in the same class as REX.com.

Garbage is garbage.

Just like reviving a thread from 2007 to make a point.

There are some pretty powerful sales to show for LLLL.com over this period and even strong sales now.

So why put all domains into one class as garbage?

I don't like brussel sprouts so all vegetables are garbage?

It would be considered as garbage in comparison to other LLL.com.

You miss the entire point.

UVX is garbage compared to Rex, AAA, TIT, UUU, and so on.

Yes,

But this point of this thread is about the general LLLL.com price movement after the buy-out, making the majority worthless due to unprecedented supply and low demand.

Not talking about Moms.com or BBBB.com.

I consider most domains worthless (including mine) until someone (an end user) puts a value to it.

My highest sale ever was an LLLL.com that 99% would think was worthless.

No vowels and included the letter y and z.

I have said it many times and for years, though away any type of guide.

Domainers "wholesaling" to domainers is like swapping spit with your sister.

I've sold all my LLLL's months ago before prices dropped and I've make my money.

Just remember last summer a guy insult me because when he told me "are you an idiot to don't invest 50k min in LLLL's now" I've replied him "No way with that amount of money I can buy better domains!"

I'm happy I've sold all my LLLL's (hundreds) and now I'm interested only in good brandable CVCV or VCVC.
