Funny Theo, not so funny to the 4 Million who suffer from it in the US alone.

It's a single word generic, I'd like to know what you base that on.

Well, it's not as crippling as say, being a paraplegic. Sorry if you don't see the humor ;)
If you have an "end user" that means they will fork out more than the $200 - $400 you'd get in a domain forum, because we're all resellers here. Sure, it's old and it has its place in the domain world - e.g. I sold whitening.net for $4k and other .net domains as well. The problem is, your end user has a budget, so try to work around that.

I suffered terribly from stuttering up until about middle school, and still find myself stuttering on the odd occasion even now.

Theo's joke was funny, though. I don't consider it tasteless. Perfectly relevant to the topic at hand.

Raider, I'd put a valuation of at least $2,500 on it - about in the same ballpark as Theo did.

Thanks grcorp. I am a clown, what can I do :D A joke is meant to break the ice, not to intimidate or insult.

Theo, do you really think the name would only fetch $200-$400 here?.... I sold a single word generic .org here for 3 times that, and to this day I thought I sold it for cheap.

I actually had a $7K price in mind for the potential buyer, but perhaps I should start with half of that and take it from there... Thanks for the example and advice, I appreciate it.

I think that we are all looking for good deals and if you want to take the test, you can post it for sale. I am not suggesting that it's worth $400.
An end-user should be able to afford at least $1k and perhaps up to $2.5k but if you asked for $7k from an individual and not a company, it'd be a wild goose chase.
Single word .orgs aren't bad, perhaps they are better than .net domains and it matters if a word is a gerund versus a noun or verb.

You know how it is Theo, they always claim to be a private individual trying to help others out, and once escrow closes you find out a doctor or large corporation bought it.

I think I'll throw out a 3K figure and see what happens.. If I land the sale, I'll post it.

Thanks again for the advice.

True, there is always the chance of leaving cash on the table. If you opt for Sedo, you can send it to auction after they bid ;)
This way, you can then solicit other domain owners and/or potential buyers to fight it out. Use ZFBot.com to find similar domains.
I've done this before, see this post.

Sometimes, they ask someone else to negotiate the deals.

I have sold a domain for low x,xxx just few weeks ago and it was bought by a small business with hyphenated version. I contacted them direct but they use middle man to negotiate and I was not aware of that.

Good luck with the sale.

Are you Nicholas Savas? If not, then you are not allowed to get appraisal for the name. Simple as that, no speculation or whatsoever.
