TDNAMmobile.com is also a redirect to a numerical IP address.

Wow! What a headline writer...!

'officially' heh; at first I was thinking over used, like 'awesome' is, but actually it's use here is just totally inaccurate and misleading, it's sole purpose being to flame. Well done.

Without reading anything, but based on gut instinct, I'd have to agree that .mobi has passed us by as yet again another useless and deprecated extension.

Think of it in this context:

Dot com is king.
Dot com will never be overtaken as the global leader of extensions.
The success of an extension will always be judged against dot com.
Anyone expecting to be able to replicate the success of dot com by simply buying and parking dot mobis, will be disappointed (at this stage at least - maybe forever).
For those of us unlucky enough to have not been made aware of the workings of the internet several years ago, must try harder for their successes now.
Dot mobi is the first viable extension to be able to take some of the sheen from dot com's kingdom.
The very fact that the extension is still being argued over nearly 20 months after launch, shows to me that it's real, and unlikely to go away any time soon.

Would anyone like to contest any of these points?

BTW, fragrances.mobi just sold and paid for within the past couple of days for 11,600 real dollars at Sedo. Anyone who wants to carry on with their denial, go right ahead...

Jasdon11 - just because crap is making dollars, it doesn't infer a smart buyer. I think the matter in hand is that; yes, we all have a couple of these domains (some maybe more) but the plain fact is that it's a dead market. RIP.

Which is it? Making dollars, or a dead market, you can't have both.

People who got in early will make killings, period. This is a trend in the domaining industry. Strong keywords in most extensions are valuable. Heck, even strong keyword .sc domains are doing well

Even .eu, which is second only to .mobi in terms of the number of people hating it, has made good profits for those who got in early

As usual diversification is key. It is risky and not wise from an investment point of view to hold a significant percentage of your assets in volatile extensions.

After all people still buy .su domains while the extension is nearly dead :)

I sold the name TDNAM.mobi to GD last year :) so at least Godaddy knows the importance of .mobi.

What's the difference between selling mortgage.mobi this Friday or 2 years ago. What are MTLD waiting for? The iPhone v2.0 ?
