Think of it in this context:

Dot com is king.
Dot com will never be overtaken as the global leader of extensions.
The success of an extension will always be judged against dot com.
Anyone expecting to be able to replicate the success of dot com by simply buying and parking dot mobis, will be disappointed (at this stage at least - maybe forever).
For those of us unlucky enough to have not been made aware of the workings of the internet several years ago, must try harder for their successes now.
Dot mobi is the first viable extension to be able to take some of the sheen from dot com's kingdom.
The very fact that the extension is still being argued over nearly 20 months after launch, shows to me that it's real, and unlikely to go away any time soon.

Would anyone like to contest any of these points?

BTW, fragrances.mobi just sold and paid for within the past couple of days for 11,600 real dollars at Sedo. Anyone who wants to carry on with their denial, go right ahead...

You could say the same thing but a much larger scale for dot anything as there have been large sales of lots of small country tld's .biz .net etc does that mean they surpass .com as being king,no i don't think so.

Who said anything about surpassing .com? Not me;

I just researched quite a few key-words from a niche uncommon market, and 99% were taken. Barely found 2 with over 1M pages on Google. If it's dead, then I don't know what alive is.

Why are so many people so hot headed about this TLD, it seems like some political issue!

I'm looking at the portfilio performance which incude mobis. There are 4000 names and 250 of them are mobis.
Most of them are generic or premium 1-word names.
Here's the tally for last 12 months (mobis only):

Unique
Views
Clicks Revenue

877 97 $12.64

Not really impressive.
Question: What's the ROI here?
