Very interesting, thanks fizz

Renegotiated down by over $2m after the deal was supposedly inked - urgh - and the deal isn't really complete at all as the buyer can renege on the contract between now and 2005 (at which point they could have paid less than $5k * 60mths = $300,000+initial payment) and just forfeit the domain name (or renegotiate *again*).

safe, not sure if you also noticed the two paras in the post made just prior to yours above? Looks like Net e-Vantage decided to cash in a good chunk of their shares for 365k.

hmmm, I read it the other way round, that net e-vantage had bought back their shares held by ontv inc for 365k.

looking at ontv's financials, it doesn't look like they'll be able to pay the final balance unless things improve massively for them.

In the last three or four months, I've paid $48k and $40k for two different one word adult .net's.

.net's are viewed differently in the adult world. Mostly, they are considered duds, with the only exceptions the home-run hitter one-worders above. However, I personally think generic .net's are absolutely fine, despite reduced key-ins and siphoned traffic to the .com.

I also brokered a sale of a music .net that was around $30k, so the big .net's aren't all in the adult domain.

Many thanks DnP for that info about some solid .net sales taking place behind-the-scenes. There's obviously a sizeable amount of domain sales activity that doesn't make it into the 'record sales' lists - some lists are looking remarkably stale and would give the impression that all's quiet in this area.

People have to distinguish between a dying site (ie Afternic) and a burgeoning aftermarket.

I think that only the people at escrow.com could properly comment on aftermarket sales :D

Wow. This was one of the most informative, fact filled, and interesting (to me) threads I have read. Only one in fifty other threads reached the same level of entertainment and wonder to me. You guys know your stuff and cleared all of us up on the reported facts.

Thanks to all involved.

I know of a .net that sold for $40,000 and another for $12,000. I personally talked to the current owner of these. I do not feel comfortable with divulging the names, as it was not my transaction. Suffice it to say, they are VERY common words.

The fact the page does not resolve to a web-site after all this time (2 yrs or more) is quite suspect. Would you pay that much money and not have a public web-site up?

Personally I would have a site up a running ASAP, the publicity a big sale makes can sometimes justify paying the money for the name!!

LOL, after almost 3 months, still no whois data over at NameWinner for Tiger.net.

I heard of a very very good .net sale recently. I can't say the name unless the buyer agrees, but it's a top-flight generic (non-adult).

for 100k, when its sold you'll know the price, date and who. I just need a buyer, ... thats all.

FYI at greatdomains, America.com asking price $15millions, huh? fifteen big big big ones.
