I think it was $750 000 per year?

where does 1 mil per month come from.

Gary certainly does not make that now.

Sex.com's value would probably beat all the rest of the top ten most valuable names put together. Easily.

And Gay.com probably wouldn't even be in the top 100. I'm not sure where Steen came up with the idea that it's better than Sex.com.

I believe this number was bandied about as the basis for the judgement of $65,000,000. levied against Stephen Cohen. He has reputedly sequestered vast stores of wealth offshore, monies earned from the site. And Gary Kremen has yet to recover a dime of it!! Who says crime doesn't pay!?

Maybe the question should be more specific?

How do you mean value.

In regards to your comment,

Lets look at ovt #s.

970 pictures.com
520 webhost.com

Which one would you pick?
I would pick WebHost.com myself.

****.com is not even close to Sex.com (or Gay.com).

Gay.com would bring much more valuable traffic than Sex.com, that was my above argument by the way :wink:

We are talking about inherent value of the name itself, so I would base my choice on traffic.

Also note that the overture for sex.com stated above is incorrect. That result is for "sex com". For example:

"dating.com" 10217
"dating com" 834

So you might estimate the overture for "sex.com" is around 3,500,000

I suspect that some sites have opted for their overtures to be hidden. I recall google.com was hidden for a while.

I also tend to agree with Steen - 'convertibility' of traffic is also a big factor. 100 uniques per day can be worth ten times more than 1000 uniques.

Sex was five million. Internet was about 1.5 million. internet explorer was 9 million in overture.

I agree with what you’re saying about ‘conversion’ being a major factor but still the traffic for sex.com is phenomenal, even taking into account conversion I still suspect sex.com would take more revenue than any of the domains listed here in this thread.

None of the other domains listed here even comes close to the value of sex.com IMO.

Another one of these threads....I wonder how many this makes it :)

As much as I would like to have sex.com, I'd rather have Casino.com

RMF

I believe that Boss Media sold casino.com for $5 million a while back.

Correct.

Gay.com MIGHT be better than sex.com asa) if sex com = sex.com then gay.com has double the overture.

aside from that, gay could (not familiar with the adult industry) be a niche and therefore more valuable traffic?

That reason being I think Poker.com ($8 a click) (6800 ovt w/ext) is better than casino.com because its a NICHE.

- 2 cents -

You could always have gay.sex.com if you owned sex.com and fill the niche that way?

I don’t believe you would take gay.com over sex.com, would you?

“sex com” doesn’t mean “sex.com” in OVT (as Beachie pointed out). The score for Sex.com would likely be 3,4,5 + x that of gay.com.

Casino.com is better than Poker.com for the same sub domain reason mentioned above... Poker.Casino.com etc

- Just my 2 pence :wink:

Correct, niches convert like crazy, general stuff like "sex" "computers" "gamble" wouldn't convert like "gay" "ink" or "blackjack" would.

OVT US…

“Sex” = 5846168
“Gay” = 652781

I think we can safely assume the OVT score for Sex.com is FAR greater than that of Gay.com.

OVT Max bids per click

Casino = $3.00
Poker = $3.81

Sex = $0.10
Gay = $0.12

Not much between them :wink:
