Value? mp3forum.com is selling for $10,000.. 5% of that price would make $500. How would you appraise it?

Thanks TrafficMonster. I didnt think its a $500 material, but I pointed out that people say .us is about 10% - 15% of .com value. So if that would be true on all domains, and considering that .com one is not overvaluated, then 5% vould make $500 and 15% would go as high as $1500. But thats not how it goes in this case imo.

It's not SELLING for $10,000 unless someone is paying $10,000. I don't think you can base a .US value on the ASKING price of a .com name (a person can ask anything he wants). I think 10K is way to much for mp3forum.com (or any forum name for that matter). Forums are notoriously difficult vehicles to make money from.

Once the .COM actually sells, I'm sure you can get a bump here in this section ... where the respective percentage(s) for ".US" resale valuations may or may not be relevant! Good Luck.

Im well aware of this, thats why I also used figure of 5% instead of 15%. Anyway, I hope this one will at least cover the fee of my vapoured duds from another thread :D

HYPO: Let's say the .COM actually SELLS for $1,000. Would you be happy with a sale here of your .US for $50, if, in fact, someone would be willing to pay that amount based on the aforementioned percentage? Appreciate your time. Good Luck.

Well, to tell you the truth, I expected a bit more when I registered it. But then again, everything above the reg fee is acceptable, so even though I still think it could fetch more, if the best offer will stand at $50, I wont be dissapointed i guess. Where else can you get more than 700% return on investment? So yes, I would be happy (not thrilled, but happy enough)

If nothing else, it will be a good lesson not to rush with impulsive decisions ;)

But you didn't register it. mp3forum.us is still available as of the time of this post.

That has been a common problem with Enom. Anyone else could take this while Enom is stuck in "processing". I have had it happen to me. If it is a name I really wanted I have gone to a backup registrar and registered it successfully while Enom was busy "processing". I have no idea why this happens there but it is a major annoyance from a registrar that I otherwise like a lot.

It's not a bad name but I probably wouldn't take it hoping to make much on resale. Would make more sense for someone who wanted to actually develop a site. As I noted, forums are not big moneymakers. They make more sense as a vehicle to promote other enterprises (as GregR uses the traffic here to promote PerfectName.com) If you do get it I think you could always get your reg fee back though. It is the last major extension with that name and gets some decent search numbers - so if I were in your shoes I wouldn't really feel bad whichever way it goes.

"Nope, don't know how to!"

Browse the different forums here at this site ... I'm betting there's quite a few designers/hosts/developers who would work with you on your .US domain development aspirations, as mentioned. Good Luck.
