sometimes there are misunderstanding between westerners and Asians, just because they have different charicteristics and cultures, and the inner part of their hearts are quite different, too.
So the fight and misunderstandings are quite often, just like female and male' wars.
So how do you think to improve the understanding of multi-cultural communication?

Chill. I would say treat people the way you want to be treated. Done.

I love Confucius too, tekz. I just despise little know-it-alls that feel obligated to tell me what to do.

It's tough, the more technology brings us together, the farther apart I realize we are. From talking with some here I realize we don't just live in different cultures, we live in different centuries. I think technology can bridge this gap one day, just not sure if we will survive long enough for it to happen.

As Pakistanis were spontaneously dancing on the streets of Karachi on 9/11/01 – Was it the mourning dance or victory type of dance?
I’m just wondering.

Well, the burning of American flags while they were dancing on 9/11 sums it up.

Probably had nothing to do with 9-11. Maybe somebody found a dollar or a piece of candy?

This is not a lecture but an observation based on many first hand accounts.

If everyone would just be mindful and respectful of the fact that there are different cultures, languages, and religions on this forum, problem solved.

But that is also the failure. I see many on this forum belittling someone else for their English and language and grammar skills. Screw that. Before you criticize and offer lessons in rhetoric, use the damn spell checker. How many English speakers have the balls to try to communicate in Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, or Japanese? Sure, we may say we don't deal with that rubbish but at the same time we sure as hell don't mind selling our domain names to non native English speakers.

There are so many differences in the spelling and verbiage between American and the Brit counterparts that it can also be confusing at times. Overall we are asking for tolerance and understanding and patience which is not commonplace it seems.

I don't think many on this forum have to work or deal with a multicultural and diverse workplace on a day to day basis. Having to do so broadens your knowledge and respect for all. It does not mean you have to agree with or honor their culture, religion, and rituals. It give you insight to the world we live in and makes you mindful and respectful of the very simple and basic fact that we are all different.

ISSUE: It is highly inappropriate to post a person's statement in a thread as being the example to all. Find a similar post regarding anti-Americanism, anti-Islamic, etc. We are talking about fairness is equality and you want to single out one post? Makes no sense what so ever.

That is a cheap shot and I don't mind attacking someone for making such a stupid move rather than criticize someone who is doing their best to communicate effectively and to the best of their ability. That, I believe, is what this thread is about.

Thanks for bringing this matter to the attention of the forum, dnol. I think it is a worthwhile topic. As you may recall I PM'd you last week to get some input and some ideas.

That is the value of a forum like this.

If we want a segregated damn community then count me out. I have little (actually NO) tolerance for bigots, racists, and discrimination...from any source, culture, nationality, and religious standpoint.

My mitral valve can beat up yours. :)

But seriously, focusing the differences is too easy. We have that mechanism built in historically by way of what is referred to as 'automatic vigilance' as described best by evolutionary psychology.

The tough challenge *is* to find the goodness in others and common human similarities.

Ok, that's all the hippie-ness I can dole out today. Now I need to go kill a bug and eat a steak or something to feel right again. ;)

Put me on ignore, bud if you don't like my posts. And if you want to support terrorism I will make sure you get smacked real hard.

I just despise little know-it-alls that feel obligated to tell me what to do.

That's exactly the attitude i'm talking about. :asleep: Where have I said I support terrorism? I only questioned your political comment intertwined with your racist remark. (Paki's) As for the smacking, you will have plenty to do as i'm sure there a numerous posters on this forum that have .pk names and most likely a lot of them will be fellow Americans. I wish you well in your quest.

Doc Com sums it up in one sentence...
If everyone would just be mindful and respectful of the fact that there are different cultures, languages, and religions on this forum, problem solved.

Do you notice the similarity of the above and what I was saying in the original thread?

I just despise little know-it-alls that feel obligated to tell me what to do.
Well, one thing I do know is how to conduct myself in a manner that does not incite racism. It may be ok in Florida to call people from Pakistani origin "Paki's" here in the UK and the rest of the European world it is not. Just out of curiosity, what does one in Florida call a person of black origin or hispanic?

As for the "little" bit. Are you inferring to my height or my age? To calrify: I am 6ft tall and 42 years of age.

.

If everyone would just be mindful and respectful of the fact that there are different cultures, languages, and religions on this forum, problem solved.
Great sentence and totally agree. DNforum is a multi national/cultural meeting place.

Disagree: The question was asked: So how do you think to improve the understanding of multi-cultural communication?
If you want a forum as you describe in the sentence above, you have to name and shame. You have to show the posters what is not acceptable if they do not know. You should be highlighting more posts of the same nature. Find me an anti American post and I will happily post the link to it on this thread and shame then as well. There is so much animosity in the world already we do not need it to overflow into this forum. Some need reminded of this.

Defendant? I don't know, is this a joke? No racial jokes allowed on the forum.

Spare me the drivel, scooter and be forward: do you support the US and its fight against global terrorism, or do you support the Pakis? You can't have it both ways.

If you register .pk domains, you are potentially funding terrorist activities, as defined by the US government. Be glad you live in the UK.

There you go again.....
Pakis, Pakis, Pakis... You just can't help it, can you? You should be ashamed of yourself.

To all persons of Pakistani origin on this forum, I sincerely apologise. We are not all the same as Acroplex.

Before I answer your question, please answer mine...
What does one in Florida call a person of black origin or hispanic?
