if you want to support terrorism I will make sure you get smacked real hard.
Do you notice the similarity of the above and what I was saying in the original thread?
How can there possibly be simularities in the original question and you pointing to one member and one statement? If you state
We could start by not putting pro American racist posts.
that can equally be interpreted as the complete opposite...pro American racists vs. anti-American racists.
ISSUE: It is highly inappropriate to post a person's statement in a thread as being the example to all. Find a similar post regarding anti-Americanism, anti-Islamic, etc. We are talking about fairness is equality and you want to single out one post? Makes no sense what so ever.
Disagree: The question was asked: So how do you think to improve the understanding of multi-cultural communication?
If you want a forum as you describe in the sentence above, you have to name and shame. You have to show the posters what is not acceptable if they do not know. You should be highlighting more posts of the same nature. Find me an anti American post and I will happily post the link to it on this thread and shame then as well. There is so much animosity in the world already we do not need it to overflow into this forum. Some need reminded of this.
The inappropriateness is having an issue with a statement and using that statement which may be totally out of character with your belief as a feature. If you were offended by such a statement it would be your choice to contact the mods and notify them, not to post it as an example.
Name and shame is not part of the game. It is for fraud and reporting suspect auctions and sales and scams and scammers. There are going to be spats and flame threads (affectionately referred to by some as "popcorn threads") on a daily basis. Every one is free to disagree. But for using one statement that you disagree with is not cool. You or the member that the comments were directed to could have easily reported this matter rather than make it an issue here.
As for anti-american posts...where were you a couple of weeks ago? Perhaps even today. I have not checked in on the thread by my mate the Pred on the Iranian crackdown on the dress code. I would imagine I can find something there that is hostile or can be construed as hostile.
You are free to disagree, obviously, but it is also a matter of interpretation of the original question:
So how do you think to improve the understanding of multi-cultural communication?I took it to mean the literal translation of verbal and written communication. I often see members making fun of someone's inability to spell English words correctly or proper sentence structure, especially from the Asian and Arabic members. This is deplorable.
Like I said, they are trying their best to communicate in our language and I see no attempt by English speaking people to communicate in Chinese or Arabic. We can talk all we want about English being the common thread but it sure as hell ain't common if we exclude some. So that was my interp.
You took it a different route.
