I have to agree with Sashas post #30. Lets say you wanted (domain).com and it was on auction and it was at 10k and you really wanted the name and were willing to pay 100k for it, why wouldn't you bid before the auction "ended'?

I mean I would hope someone spending 600k on a domain does a little research before bidding.

I say he has a case. Also the fact that sedo sent him an email trying to sell him another name is just bad business imo.

Sedo needs to get their act together. They always seem to have server problems, maybe they just atleast need to fix that problem. Hey with the comission on music.mobi they should be able to get some new servers.

So as this, err, dust settles... it's a bit beyond me how SEDO can have server issues. That being said, since I am in the system architecture field by design : it may be more of a code scalability issue than simply throwing another couple of servers in the equation.

I don't think that SEDO is using CDN such as Akamai - does it need to ? Domaining is not running commodity services like eBay auctions... although we're getting there. That being said, if SEDO is running ancillary services to domainers (such as parking services) than those systems had better be running in the five 9s .. yes 99.999% at least as far as tracking goes.

Rant off: so where are we at with the outcome of this music.mobi name auction ??

I hope he wins. I've got nothing nice to say about Sedo. My rep was horrible and inattentive to his duties and transfers at hand. I would think that running 5-figure domains through them would have at least garnered a little more assistance that what I got for the commission. If only I had found DNForum sooner!

i wonder if they (sedo) called and emailed him (original buyer) in emergency about the extended auction

and have a proof of "system errors", otherwise he is a suit winner

So now here's a(nother) market for people with botnets able to crash websites, eh?

I mean, if it's sedo's policy to reopen bidding upon a crash, then you just need a short sharp ddos at the right moment to outbid someone who's no longer watching because they think they've already won.

Disclaimer: I'm a *total* newbie with no deals behind me so I know nothing about the domaining industry or sedo or anything else. Know a fair bit about webservers though..

otherwise he is a suit winner

Only a court of competent jurisdiction is going to determine who wins a suit if
it comes to that. Otherwise anything posted here are opinions that mean little
to nothing.
