What he said. ".travel" is no good. It will run the route of .mobi, .tel, .pro, .ws, etc.

I've registered keywords as generic as "bored" or "condos" in uncommon extensions.

Since THEY contacted you, you definitely hold the cards here. My advice is to counter at $10,000... but don't get too greedy. You can land a minimum of $5,000 at worst.

thanks GR its a waiting game now im looking for upper 20"s or 30's the guy who emailed me has a big travel blog of blogs and his name is associated with the SAUDI TOURIST AND TRAVEL BUREAU. Let see.

hey stock i would do it but its a premium domain . i think this is just the begining of higher offers. saudi is a strong keyword with millions of links.. lets see what happens next.

As far as the domain names goes it is excellent (no questions about that)
if you look at the .info (it is still good but we see premium names at low price)

I agree stock with that , but i think the difference is that nobody in the world can get a .travel with a country name period. it's impossible the .travel country domains are held by dot travel. but there is something about this domain that just makes it unique and tens of millions go there. im not trying to strike it rich , but im lucky to have it.

You have to keep in mind... the word "Saudi" is viewed as a demonym. It's only half of the country's name. That's somewhat like having "States.travel"

But as we've all been saying... it's to do with the TLD. If you want people to be spending money on your site, they'll have to trust it. 98% of people have never heard of, nor seen .travel, so they'll have a hard time booking a vacation and entering their credit card number into it.

yes i agree GR , im not there yet in developing it . thats is one of my concern. last year i tried to kick it around and only a few gave me a thumb up. i contacted rick latona and they said they were not interested, aslo when sedo had there travel auction they told me no too and bido too in the begining. So here i am thinking why would i get an strong offer in the first bang hmmm , nobody ever knows what people are thinking, im just glad that somone from that country has an interest. but i agree with you.

yes buyers wll be limited , my expections was to build a information site with a plug in for hotels. also post banners in the saudi blogs and see what would happen, that is my next step.

Counter and try to sell while you can, I feel it's likely the potential buyer will lose interest after some time and consideration even if he did make first contact. Don't forget Arabic IDN's are on the horizon and that is where the real traffic will be flowing online in that region. Unless you are prepared to spend $$ and have a good network going in the Middle East you're development 'plans' will be a wash.

Seriously I doubt you will get offers on a .travel every day. Few people even know that extension exists.
Either you seize the opportunity or you stick to your development plans but I would not bank on further interest from end users in the future.

The domain extension is a keyword when combined with another keyword it can stand alone and get natural type in traffic.

He has made some very shrewd decisions and, despite the odds and doubts, has marketed heavily towards the Spanish speaking community here in the US and internationally.

And he has done so very successfully.

You have to keep in mind... the word "Saudi" is viewed as a demonym. It's only half of the country's name. That's somewhat like having "States.travel"

But as we've all been saying... it's to do with the TLD. If you want people to be spending money on your site, they'll have to trust it. 98% of people have never heard of, nor seen .travel, so they'll have a hard time booking a vacation and entering their credit card number into it.

The shorter the domain the more valuable it is no matter what extension. thanks for the imput
