Big ol fluffy black lab.

Labs are awesome. We have a few (out of the nine dogs we presently have) and love 'em.

No wonder they are the most numerous and popular dog in the US.

Tomorrow we have the pet hospice come out for a peaceful end. It is time.

The ol girl is ready,... and she makes me (us) very sad.

But it is time. :rain:

Sorry to hear that, but sounds like the best thing to do. Good luck tomorrow.

We found a very compassionate vet to come out today.
I got that last smile, and she went peacefully in my arms.

The backyard will never be the same now.
Too quiet, too empty.

Mate, it will be the same.

I have to believe that your yard will not be empty and quiet. Because your heart is not empty and quiet. You'll find the right one at the right moment. It just happens that way.

It's always sad to lose someone or in this case an animal that you love, but at 84 years old, it's almost expected.

Gerry, appreciate the tip,..... but it no longer works.

I did the same, a glob of peanut butter,...

and she licked the peanut butter off and wouldnd get the pill.

We went through the same thing with our Mini Schnauzer who was just over a year old, (7 in dog years) poor guy was very near death, it took 4 blood transfusions to save him for the medication to work, followed by 6 months of pill feeding, what a nightmare.. If your ever in this unfortunate situation again, understand that all these tricks are short term, you can fool them once, maybe twice if your lucky, but they'll always figure it out, dogs are incredibly smart, smarter than we give them credit for.... The way we did it, is one of us pulled his mouth open while the other dropped the pills in and poured water down his throat, he didn't like it very much at first, but he got used to it, and lived to bark about it. :)

Looked at her birth records today,... she would have been 14 in the middle of this month.

Not bad if I say so myself.

Well, the back yard has been sad and empty,..and our hearts a little bit hurting.

But I now have a new puppy to brighten our day.

Got a 7 week old yellow female lab a couple of weeks ago,..and we are happy once again.

Of course she is full of puppy piss-n-vinegar too.

Maybe I will post a pic.

edit to add- yes, everyone cried when I brought her in the house. My youngest was dumbfounded and didnt do anything but cry and hug the danged dog.

She needed the lil' turd in her life, and I couldnt have been happier to see it.

Fine,... here she is at 5 weeks old, still with her momma at the breeders.

Looks like she was woke up for this shot.

(for some reason the uploader here wont let me upload it)

OK, just kept resizing till it worked.

But here is the new gal.

5 weeks old.

Well she is 10 weeks now, double the size, double the trouble.

But I cant stop cuddling her when she is finally pooped out.

Full AKC with a great and healthy bloodline.

She already points and stalks. A born huntin' dawg. But she is going to be our backyard princess.
