I have over 700 names at mydomain.com and I noticed that they
are taking the traffic from many of them and pointing it to their own Overture search page!!

These are Domains set-up long ago.

Is this happening to anyone else here???

ALL my domains are going to their Overture search page. Looks like they'll be making some big bucks today.

very interesting post HLK..

I take it these are names just sitting at MyDomain, which are undeveloped.. correct?

I see . so they switch them on an off. 1/2 the time it goes to your normal redirect and 1/2 the time they take the traffic. ..not too hard if they wanted to be sneaky and repoint the dns somewhere else for 1/2 the day if they wanted... bastards.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Do they still promote MyDomain as a free service?

If they are doing something dishonest, obviously that is wrong, however, domain owners might share a tiny fraction of blame.

Have you ever heard the expression: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true."

?

Perhaps domain owners who were greedily trying to get services for free now understand the benefits of paying for real hosting..

>>you guys are high ... my names all work fine

Adam your bigtrucks.com was going to Dotsters overture page earlier. I saw it.

Mine are all back to normal now. Could have been a prob with their system....what ever it was they made some good money while in effect.

I only try to get services for free when someone offers them for free.

If you cant offer something and have it work, free or not, dont offer it.

I wouldn't mind paying for a high quality DNS service. But, UltraDNS, Verisign, EasyDNS, etc. are all very expensive once you start adding hundreds of domains, argh. :(

As an employee of MyDomain.com, I can honestly say that there is absolutely no "stealing of traffic" going on through our service. If the MyDomain customers posting on this forum had checked our own forum, http://forum.mydomain.com, yesterday they would have seen the announcement about a large DDOS attack that took the forwarding services down for a few hours. During the process of mitigating the attack, an error page was loading which did contain advertisements.

Because we value our customers opinions, we will be changing this page dramatically. Thank you to all the members who helped contribute to this process.

Again, there's nothing malicious going on here. Any of the members on this forum are free to PM me for more information, or anytime for questions you may have about the MyDomain.com services.

Thank you!
