This morning while taking a shower I noticed my left arm had a yellow spot. After examining it I noticed my vein in hard like a wire. It's on my left arm between my shoulder and where my elbow bends but closer to the opposit side of my elbow. The hardness extends only about a half inch of my vein but where it's hard it's yellow and enflamed slightly.

If you place your palm face up like you are receiving change from a cashier and follow up the arm past the opposit side of the elbow that's where it is.

I am just wondering what you think. I know this is not a medical forum and will not hold anyone to their words. Could this cause a heart attack or a stroke?

Yeah, I don't think we have any medical professionals here (but if we do I think they'd suggest the same thing). Go see a doctor.

Your doctor is the first step, referral to a vascular specialist from there

Superficial thrombophlebitis can cause your vein to become hardened, but you would be expierencing a bit of pain and would swell up and become red. Without knowing your medical history it is rather hard to diagnose someone, you could have a genetic disease or disorder. It could be something you ate, a place you traveled, or a toxin in the home. Take the advice above and seek a real doctor.

Dude, why are you even posting this on the forum?

And why take medical advice from anyone on the forum.

Thanks for your help everyone. Mainly just posting to see if anyone else has ever experienced this, dude. I can't do anything until tomorrow morning so I figured I would ask those I know of for the time being. Thanks again.

It is just so bizarre seeing something like that being posted.

Yes, it can be serious...clots, blockage, or just cut off circulation somewhere.

Honestly, why not go to the ER?

Dude, it's your arm!

dude you better have taken yer as$ to the E.R. blood clots are no joke, serious risk of it breaking free and causing heart attack/stroke...no bueno bro

Also, it might NOT be a blood clot, you need an ultrasound on that arm asap.

If it is a clot, they can give you a clot busting drug via I.V. and there are also special procedures to "vacuum it out" with a micro suction device. Normally clots will be accompanied by severe swelling & pain, plus discoloration below the clot area...pretty serious stuff although they are not uncommon. Let us know what happens brother, hope you are ok man

Crap Ashaw. Go to the doctor pronto!

Best long-term approach for cardiovascular health is not smoking, a Mediterranean diet, exercise and fish oil supplements. If you have a family history of cardiovascular issues (stroke, heart attacks, etc.) and LDL cholesterol over 100 (yes, that's just 100), you need to request a CPK test. If there’s inflammation, you need to be on Crestor. This information is new enough that many doctors may not be aware/accepting. However, in a large and significant study, this showed a 45% reduction in heart attacks.

LOL

Seriously, I know why he did and it makes sense. He was just trying to understand if it was something simple or more complex. Forums are useful for pulling knowledge so maybe some experienced the same thing.

Hey guys. As a quick follow up I went to the doctors this morning and he confirmed it is a blood clot. He told be although any clot in the vein is serious, the arm is not as bad as the leg would be. He has put me one a medication that will thin my blood while trying to free the clot. We are keeping a close eye on it as to make sure it doesn't move and will be following up with a visit every day.

I do appreciate your help. I do have health insurance but the coverage is terrible, which was the reason for posting this thread. I don't understand why that seems weird. I will take advice from anyone about anything. This forum was the quickest way I knew how to get more then one opinion and the results helped me. I really appreciate it guys.

All will be fine I'm sure. I am taking it serious though.
