Dude (gotta love that word).

Perhaps I should have scared the shit out of you and told you exactly what you were facing and what it sounded like you were describing.

Yes, most blood clots to the lungs (pulmonary embolism) and the heart originate in the legs.

You are probably at risk and a full lab workup would be the minimum along with a good family history on file.

Next time, just go to where ever.

I don't want to cause you alarm, but dude...it's your arm!

Do you have any idea how many patients I have taken care with clots in their lungs, arms, legs, heart, and brain? Mostly elderly but numerous young people.

Seriously, if you had one you are most likely a candidate to have further develop. Clots are due to any number of reasons, or injury, or genetic...that is why you need a complete lab workup, physical, and family history.

Hey guys. As a quick follow up I went to the doctors this morning and he confirmed it is a blood clot. He told be although any clot in the vein is serious, the arm is not as bad as the leg would be. He has put me one a medication that will thin my blood while trying to free the clot. We are keeping a close eye on it as to make sure it doesn't move and will be following up with a visit every day.

I do appreciate your help. I do have health insurance but the coverage is terrible, which was the reason for posting this thread. I don't understand why that seems weird. I will take advice from anyone about anything. This forum was the quickest way I knew how to get more then one opinion and the results helped me. I really appreciate it guys.

All will be fine I'm sure. I am taking it serious though.

I was only larking about on an otherwise quiet day - no offence intended Andrew!

Glad you're getting it attended to.

Andrew - you're probably on warfarin or at least aspirin. To be frank, if you've not had an immediate referral to a consultant/specialist for an angiogram, I'd get on the phone and arrange it.

Glad you got medical attention. I was once in your position, but probably worse like something Doc Com just decribed, take his advice.
Anyway, get well soon.

the doctor did not advise me to do do anything further other then consult him should it not go away, it moves, becomes more discolored or the pain increases. It sometimes worries me that doctors don't always know everything...
