These parking pages are identical to what is produced at DevHub. Perhaps Smartname has white-labeled their platform. Monetization at DevHub is both PPC and CPA. You can include whatever pieces you want to have on your pages, including the ability to add your own affiliate or other codes.

The potential CTR decline issue is very important since I suspect if a name gets say a 25% CTR at a place like parked.com, namedrive.com, DS or fabulous.com the CTR may decline to approx 5% or less the more and more the page looks like a real website with content such as the new Smartname pages.

Assuming that CTR decline in fact happens does it in-effect mean traffic and clicks will need to increase by a factor of 5 for revenue to be the same?

I agree the new Smartname pages are incredibly good but the big problem is the expected big decline in CTR as a result. Generally speaking, I can say the better your site is the worse it will perform on PPC.

According to my math (please correct me if it's fuzzy math or incorrect) if the CTR drops from say 25% to 5% it would take a five-fold increase in traffic and clicks (assuming EPC is the same) to earn the same revenue. Such an increase is possible but would likely take many months or even years. In, fact, years is more likely than months since it's a very slow process.

I applied at SmartName.com and sent them a partial list of some good .com traffic names I have parked at parked.com 1000+
They emailed me back saying my names are not high enough quality. I was not happy.
These guys are very selective. Looks like they might prefer .us and other extensions that I don't touch.
Not only are they going to loose parking revenue but name sales revenue by being so selective.

My domains are way better type in traffic name than any .us domains

I wish I could give a positive review but ...

UPDATE: I have been accepted into their program and will be posting results of my using their service!

Here's a summary of the webinar, as well as expectations. Importantly, Instant Shops and Full Content solutions, while fantastic! - should not be compared to Traditional Parking.

Enhanced PPC: Traditional Parking – still the fastest, easiest way to make money for domains that get direct type in traffic
www.CulinaryEducation.com

Instant Shops: Ecommerce - for product-type names that don’t do well on PPC. Platforms are SEO friendly, and users can insert their own affiliate and/or
Google AdSense code and collect 100%. This would be in addition to your revenue share with SmartName
www.DynamicSwimsuits.com

Full Content: Informational / Social Sites - for information/topic-related names that don’t do well on PPC. Also SEO friendly, and users can insert their own
affiliate and/or Google AdSense code and collect 100%. This would be in addition to your revenue share with SmartName
www.AboutTLDS.com

For Sale Link: SmartName partners can link their sites to our end-user focused, Expanded Promotion Network - AfternicDLS

Cost: FREE

Hi Ted, I like the instant shops sites best however I understand that if someone buys a product such as a swimsuit in your example site the only compensation will be the normal ppc click value with nothing at all for the product order. That bothers me a lot and makes me negative.

That does not seem fair that we would earn say .14 cents or whatever for the ppc click but get nothing in sales commission for a $46 swimsuit purchase where the profit on that must be near 50% I would guess.

So assuming that is the case, someone is making $20 or more profit (plus the shipping profit of probably a few dollars more) but we get peanuts by comparison. Please correct me if that is not accurate. The concept of someone earning all that profit on an order thanks to my traffic vs the pennies I get bothers me a lot. With regular PPC it's different and not as troubling since they are not direct orders as they are with your setup via your shopping.com connection.

David you are correct and I appreciate your frustration. NameMedia doesn't get paid either when a product sells. However, and folks may or may not agree, I'd rather get paid on clicks and get something frequently, than get paid a small percentage on a few sales once in a great while.

From a user of WhyPark, i admit this dose look interesting, i have quite a collection of different domains, so your 3 categories are of interest to me.

I'm interested to hear some more from people already using the service/s.

I just applied with a sample of 30 or more dotca's. Most of them one word - some two words.
Be interesting to see if dotca is loved as much as dotus

No doubt I have this wrong and I apologize in advance for my mistake
These sites look to me like they have so much duplicate content that within a few months google will remove the domains from their index
Where have I got this wrong?

I also think google might punish the domains/parked pages due to duplicated content.

If not, I would be interested to apply to try a few sites.

Great question...

We’ve tested tens of thousands of names from our own portfolio here at NameMedia, and saw no loss in indexing due to duplicate content. This is mostly due to the fact that the content is completely dynamic, and refreshed at the time of the visit to the page. Beyond this, the feed randomizes the articles that are displayed so that we minimize the odds that a bot will see the same thing twice on two similar domains.

With all this said, we never recommend ignoring your sites if you truly want them to be successful. Even small changes can have big impacts, such as a logo, custom content that you enter, or even custom RSS feeds to ensure uniqueness.

In this way, you minimize the risk of duplication and show the engines that your sites are “alive,” relevant, and fresh.

I hope this helps…

Anyone considering SmartName – feel free to send me your list of domains to tolson (at) smartname.com

Thanks again for all the feedback and feel free to email me directly with any further questions.
