Hello, :yo:

Sedo just released a Price Suggestions tool that help domain owner define sell price for the domains they own.
In order to use it, you need a sedo account and domain for sell.
This tool can be found in the "Domain Management" menu.
In order to use it, you have to select the domains you want to test, and select
"Get free price suggestions" in the select menu.
Check by yourself and report your feedback
Note you can not get p
rice suggestions for domain you do not own.

With http://estibot.com and http://domainappraisal.net this is another free domain appraisal tool to add in your domainer toolbox

Am I the only one who sees this as a slight conflict of interest and sides with the seller?

Sedo gives you a suggestion on the price you should sell your domain for - basically an appraisal.

When you sell your domain, Sedo gets a cut, 10% or a minimum fee, whichever is higher. Most of the time it is 10%.

This means if they suggest a higher price - they get more money so why would they want to under-price domains?

Now, I'm not talking telling someone they should sell a reg fee name for $2500 but how much of a difference would it seem between a $200 domain and a $250 domain? Even though that's only a $5 increase - multiply that by the number of sales they do and it could be a nice chunk of change.

Most auto-appraising tools are useless.

I see it from the perspective the seasoned domainers see it most of these tools give inaccurate prices and most good domainers say they can look at a domain without analytical gadget and tell you the value. I think it is great from this perspective too if a company as big a sedo( remember estibot a domainer tool) looks at the apprisal of this highly documented very big auction house give an appraisal this could monumental to the domaining industry by appreciating our pieces of internet property and if a domainers know they can get more than 10 by sales on sedo it might actually increase all sales all around . like I said this is great for industry is it right in our eyes no but also if domains are worth more people will get in the industry and saturation on the forum could allow you to sale a good domain within minutes of its post instead of having a week. Very strategic business idea in my eyes

If they direct people to price their names too high, it would result in lesser sales because they wouldn't be meeting potential buyer's price expectations. So accurate appraisals would actually be in Sedo's best interest.

But as Acro said, automated appraisals are useless and will be for a long time. Heck, they're rarely used in the real estate world - manual appraisals are still generally required for loan transactions, and there IS a science to real estate appraising whereas there really isn't for domain appraising - only loose guidelines and gut feeling.

People already price their names to high, I remember always seeing people price their names for example 3xk.net for 5k which is always and will happen in industry and domain sales happen every day . that would always exist but I am talking about the auction platform. also i would think more names are auction than directly sold and more names belong yo domainers on sedo(dominers usually wont trust automatic appraisal) so even if by little chance people over price their domains and it increases lesser sales ( which would be small factor) the auction platform would definitely would increase in overall rev with perceived prices.plus if some people do over price their domans it would not change the fact that someone is looking for a domain for thier site or small business and they would go to ( seasonal domain ) for a reasonable price it would not slow down the demand if it worste shift domains for people who better price their domains. So very little room to diminish the demand aspect of the domain market just reshift and give it a standard even if we domainers may not agree on the appraisals it gives a reference and regualtion of our market to an new buyer .

What do you think about the appraised value ?
Happy to see that even .tel are appraised.

So bad there is a 50 domain limit per day. Hope it will be removed soon. :)

haha

i saw this on sedo
people have quoted back to me their 'paid' sedo 'appraisal' before when offering on a domain, and i just thought 'noob' when they said that
as a paid sedo appraisal is worthless also

this free auto one is laughable. anyone quoting this is under the sodomites that use 'estibot' lol

Accurate, to a point, yes. I don't mean Sedo should say a reg fee name can sell for $5000 but what if a name that should sell for $900 they say should be $1000? That's not that much of a difference and can generate extra revenue for Sedo when it sells.

What do you think about the appraised value ?

Appraisals are usually worth less than what you paid for them. Auto-appraisals are worth much less. :)

I put in for two free pricing suggestions. It's for fun as Nacho Libre would say.

Received my first 50 price suggestions today.
Draggar, it only places the names in a range <500, 500-999, 1000-1500, etc.

It appears to place a lot of value on length and google results. For a parking company, I am surprised they don't consider actual revenue and traffic in the price suggestions as far as I can tell?

I will get the rest of my names done, but overall it didn't really give me any good information.

It's not working.

I asked fo an appraisal of the 1st 20 domains in my list... it said "pending" for a while, and now just blanks in the appraisal column.

Every appraisal is pointless - unless you are the buyer, or more importantly, the seller, it counts for nothing. Less than nothing.

You may as well ask the next person you see because it doesn't matter what they say.

End of.

Ok, I picked ONE domain and requested 'price suggestion.' After a minute of 'pending' it said 'due 27 minutes'. 15 minutes later, it said 'due 72 minutes'. Now, 2 hours later, they all say 'due 27 minutes'.
