I set the price I will sell the domain for. If someone accepts it, fine, if not, buy another domain.
That said, I tried this tool on a few domains for fun, and no, I won't consider the suggestions it makes. Of course it's "right" many times, setting a price suggestion of < 500 for half-crappy domains, but anyone relying on it blindly would be a fool. Or relying on it in any way, rather.

Now, hours later... it says '146 minute wait'...

So, it can estimate domains, but can't estimate it's own wait time?

Now the 'price suggestion' column is gone entirely.

I'm guessing if your session times out, you lose everything.

So I re-requested the ONE domain again.

It says I need to wait 5,450 minutes. That's 90 hours, almost 4 days. My session will time out again in a couple of hours.

Geez. Somebody didn't think this through.

I've done Appraisals and Auto-Appraisals in the past, and will never use them again. They are worth less and waste of time and money. I'm looking for End Users, and not looking to make quick buck. I have domains companies would love, very marketable. I see names that are sold every day and can't believe some of the prices, names that don't make any sense, and see some domains names that are sold that Command those high prices. I only deal in Dot com's, because they are only the one's that are marketable in today's market place. I wish I could advertise all my dot com's names.

It's the price of demand in domain names. What people are willing to pay! If you Advertise they may come!

I have requested a few free appraisals yesterday (just for fun), now it says "5916 min wait" :asleep:

it could means 2 things:

1) They have 486 DX2 66Mhz PCs dedicated to the new free appraisal system

2) They have an Extremely Huge queue of appraisals (which means lots of people like this new tool).

SEDO ANNOUNCES NEW HIRE, NEW PRODUCT

Sedo Inc. announces it has hired renouned domain broker Patty Similien, to the software division. Patty is a former adviser to domainers on many forums such as DNF.com, and a "panel guest at Bido.com".

Patty comes with a special 295 MB program she wrote herself, despite only being trained as a lawyer and architect. Patty reports this program is "artificial intelligence", and will give a price appraisal to any number of domains in 5 minutes or less.

According to Sedo's CEO: "We at Sedo jumped at the chance to purchase such software and hire this genious. We were so stoked we couldn't wait for the screenshot, which she says she mailed us 2 months ago but it still hadn't arrived. We are putting this online NOW!"

Received my first 50 price suggestions today.
Draggar, it only places the names in a range <500, 500-999, 1000-1500, etc.

It appears to place a lot of value on length and google results. For a parking company, I am surprised they don't consider actual revenue and traffic in the price suggestions as far as I can tell?

I will get the rest of my names done, but overall it didn't really give me any good information.

Hey 2gajgops,

If yo move your mouse over the arrow it will show a specific value. Would be nice if these were actually included in another column, but such as it is!

It's not crap.

But if the domain is appraised at more than 10k, when you want to see the exact price they say
There is a high likelihood the value of this domain is > 10,000 USD. In order to determine a more exact market value we recommend ordering a customized appraisal for this domain. You also have the option to set a price above 10,000 USD for this domain.

It is crap.. Just like any other appraisal. I gave it a two word .in domain which it appraised as my most valuable domain. They are very biased towards certain keywords. But Sedo has always had that affinity.

Besides there is no exact price.. Just intervals.. I guess that they dont do appraisals over 10K. I can see why you would like it though ;)

I've submitted 7 domains: 3 of them were appraised at over $10k (correct), 1 at $9,9k (too much), 1 at $8.2k (correct), 1 at $3.2k (too less) and 1 at $420 (too less).

IMO those appraisals aren't too far from what the names are worth.

3 out of 5 appraised at less than 500 all say the same thing: 100 even... maybe that is the lowest their appraisal system goes? my highest out of the five was a dot biz.

annuityleads.com recently sold for $12,000, which surprised me. I'm wondering what the free price tool would have suggested and how the seller would have felt if they'd it priced it accordingly. :undecided:

The new tool blows like most automated devices. The value of a domain is left up to the end user and his/her needs and wants for the name and the owner of the name. Anything else is just a way for companies that sell names to make money off all the chumps that hope to be successful domainers! Run the tool and you'll find there are a ton of names they recommend $500 for. Gee surprise!!!

besides this worthless tool... whats up with Sedo's featured domains list? Can you buy into that or something? it's almost as bad as TDNAM's... (godaddy auctions now)

I think the tool is way off, a complete waste of time and will have a negative effect on the low-end domain sales
