I would like to change my username but the username I want is already taken They have not logged in since 2004. Is there anyway I can request the user to be deleted and then change my login?

I have the same "problem", but I assumed it wasn't possible. I wanted to change my username to my first name, but there's already a user with that name and he's not been active at all.

Never mind. I found out all I need to do is file a UDRP and get Andrew Christie on the panel. Thanks.

There is a link to a username changes policy in the forum rules #30, but it displays a blank page. :mod:

My feeling on username changes is this:

I understand that the name you pick when you signup may not reflect your future business.
I also understand a name you picked as a 16-20 year old may also not be what you want to be known as later on.
I also know that sometimes you start out as a person doing business and then turn into a business and want your username to match that business.

If a user has 100% feedback rating I am ok with doing a username change based on one of the above scenarios.
I am also ok with giving you a username of a dormant account.

I will never change a username for somone running from a bad reputation they had with the old one, my experience over the last 8-9 years tells me they will just abandon the account and start with a fresh username.

It also has a negative effect on a well know user when they change their username as most people will not relate to who they are.

I'm thinking of changing my user name this year to my upcoming business name.

Can I sell "Think"? :D

Someone care to fill me in on the Andrew Christie bit?

I am also ok with giving you a username of a dormant account.

Just curious, if they purchased a lifetime membership, does that not contractually bind the forum to maintain the account in the username in which it was established? At what point does the "dormant" status apply?
