Actually they had some b*lls As they registered the domain during the Sunrise period - only way to do that is when you have a tm for the domain.

Well it makes sense, the first modern Olympics took place in 1896, therefore there was no US "Olympic team" before that

But they applied for a tm in 1998 ! That's only 102 years later.

For those who don't know, the USOC has a special Federal statute that governs the use of the word "OLYMPIC" (and other terms), and several UDRP panels have said that the mere registration of domain names containing the OLYMPIC mark is bad faith. So be careful.

USOC has a million rules about the Olympic rings, and all other Olympic symbols and icons. The 1980 games were in NY, and one poster depicted that years mascot (a racoon) with it's paws through one of the rings.
