It really depends on the college that you go to. I go to a private college online, but they are not just an online college, they have a large campus in my town and in Japan...they are expensive but they provide quality professors. I've known some people that have went to some cheaper colleges and they were poor quality. In comparison, my college is around 15x more per semester hour than my wife's college. It all depends what level you're at as well, I'm pursuing a doctorate.

I'm looking into an eMBA from CSUMB. They are not cheap, but apparently their are more expensive programs. They are an actual physical college as well.

I'm currently enrolled in MBA program online through University of Phoenix (Phoenix.Edu). They have also onsite class, I tried it for my first class but online is a lot better for me. So far so good.

It's ok, $2000+ for one MBA class. If for associate or BS degree, I think close to $1000 per class. I highly recommend to call one of their student counselor to get the correct information.

Good luck to you.

I would look at a state college in the state you are in. Most have online courses and you end up paying state tuition.

It also depends on the degree.

Take a look at a some from East Carolina University Distance Degrees:
http://www.ecu.edu/cs-acad/grcat/distanceEd.cfm

Here are their fees PER COURSE for online education:

Here's NC State:

2009-2010 Tuition and Fees Per Credit Hour
Program Residents of NC (Tuition, Fees) Non-Residents
of NC (Tuition, Fees)
Distance Education Courses and Programs: $216 $19 $432 $19
Engineering Online (EOL): $216 $24 $676 $24
Wood and Paper Science (WPS): $216 $19 $432 $19
Administrative Officers Management Program (AOMP): $134 $13 $268 $13

Here is the University of North Carolina, all 16 major state universities:

Nearly all the courses/curriculums slated as distance eduction degrees have a very reasonable rate.

I have been looking at similar programs in Univ. Alabama and Cincy.

For instance, one class I completed cost me $225 total and I saw some of these "online colleges" charging over $2K for the same course.

I am a resident of CA., and CSUMB is a state college, but their fees are the same for both residents, and non-residents.

A lot of times when they are SPECIFICALLY distance education, the price will be the same.

I used this NC chart to show how reasonable fees are per class (for resident and out of state).

I think it is really going to depend on the degree you seek.

For me, depending on when a particular course was offered, I had also been looking at the same course at U of Alabama, LSU, Tulane, U of Cincy and a few others.

I have to take BioStatistics class as a prerequisite to others.

It is important to keep in mind that even though college credit hours will transfer, where ever you plan on getting the actual degree will limit the number of transferable hours, MOST PARTICULARLY in Masters, PhD, and Doctorate degrees.
