.org domains not showing up correctly in whois

has anyone else noticed that when you do a whois on a .org domain, it all seems rather strange..

for example on ones I own this is what says:

Registrant Name:CONTACT NOT AUTHORITATIVE
Registrant Street1:Whois Server:whois.opensrs.net
Registrant Street2:Referral URL:www.opensrs.org
Registrant City:N/A
Registrant Postal Code:N/A
Registrant Country:CA
Registrant Email:not@available.org


any idea what is going, my concern is that registrant name is not showing and also all the data is not correct.

It has been like that since 27 January 2003 when PIR took over the .org registry.

For your case, you might want to go to OpenSRS' own whois at http://www.opensrs.org/cgi-bin/whois.cgi for full registration information.

You need to use http://www.betterwhois.com for the time being. They explain there why the .org whois is whacky.
