I told you, "He had replied before you have asked.", but I did not say whether that is GOOD or BAD "no comments from me".

Sigh. Here are the possible reasons then.

1. .org will have a new owner come year end. They will be promoting .org all over again and it will be in the news. The value of .org names will increase as a result.

2. The price of all new .org name name registrations will be increased to reflect .org's renewed status as a non-profit. The prestige of owning a .org will increase.

3. Britney will be going on a .org tour soon.

4. Mole will spend more time promoting .org on dnforum as he does on .info / .biz

The most likely scenario is that new .org domains will require proving that you are a bona-fide not-for-profit organization, and any existing .org domains will be grandfathered.

I think at least one of the groups bidding on managing the .org registry has proposed this - though it did not come from the DNSO subcommitte.

I have been thinking about statistical ways to measure compare percentages of working sites. One way is to look at percentage of google-listed sites by TLD ending... What do you folks think of the pros and cons of this measure? By this measure, currently .ORG is 31.4% of .COM and .INFO is 1.1% of .COM. I plan to track this over time and make trend projections. I expect .INFO % to increase.
