I really like the .org extension, when used with an appropriate prefix, with a useful .org website attached.

www.Remove.org is one fine example.

Do you know of other worthy .org sites.

Please post the link. Thankyou.

org can be very appropriate with the right names, sometimes more so than the com.

The who person- never reads anything and only has one key on his keyboard!

I'm currently planning papers.org which will be a newspaper/media directory - nothing to see yet though.

I like .org too - I'm resurrecting www.InternetSafetyCouncil.org as I think its a good idea - safe browsing advice etc for kids and parents.
I don't know why the previous owners let it drop unless it was a time thing - it was a good idea (although in truth there are quite a few others). It's currently in the early stages of re-construction, so just a logo page but I hope that it will prove useful in the course of time.

LinuxHowTo.org is much better than .com and .net.

domainclub.org is very good for a non-profit forum.

videopoker.org is not bad :D

newsforum.org ,newgames.org and cybernews.org are also good.

Nothing fancy, no ads, a work in progress:

www.10048.org

(It gives the owner a feeling of having done something nice)

If you can do it, also reg. the .com. I guarantee some visitors will go to the .com out of habit, even if they know your site is the .org.

I cannot speak for the *old* Afternic, but this is higher than I heard was the highest "real" sale they ever had.

There was always something odd about the engineering.org Afternic sale in that after the purchase the url never worked until fairly recently (I checked in from time-to-time). It now resolves to the American mechanical engineers society.

If I recall correctly for about 3-yrs it only gave a 'page not found' error message. It seems very odd a firm would spend $198,000 on a domain and not put up a website (or even a simple redirection) for several yrs., which is what seems to have happened with that one.

All the sales posted on the new Afternic for more than a few weeks are real. We delete sold listings if they do not complete escrow for any reason.
