He told me that the optic fibres went broke but they are fixed now.

I can't imagine what would happen if all the internet in the United States went down for even one hour.

i cant even imagine a minute, let alone an hour...there is so much dependency on the internet in U.S , timezones, and etc.

Hey, remember the east coast lost power for about a day? Pretty much all work life came to a halt, everyone was relaxing, throwing BBQs and drinking outside. Wasn't too bad :)

1 min would not do that much, but an hour would cost companies millions. And it would cost us domain guys a few clicks!

1 min will cost millions, 1 hour will cost billions of $'s

its crazy how much money is made on the net per day, split that up, per hour and it alot!

most servers, payment processors etc. are american based, do the calculations, there would be a global catastrophe

I really don't care. :-)

sounds like the scene after the hurricanes down south, we had our fun, all we could do at the time, bbq's rocked!

I was in NYC when the power went out. It was a rather calm and nice afternoon. Walking home a few miles kinda stank and it was hot that day but everyone's cool attitude was the best part of it.

satelite connections....
or use a mobile phone w bluetooth

satelite is an option but i think mobile phone masses are still using normal cable lines ;)

Could the whole internet go down in say the UK or the USA??

Imagine how much money could be lost?!

mobile phones go through satellites in underdeved countires.
that has been my experience this far from travelling

all I know is that if the web was shut down in the US, canada's population is gonna get about an extra million in less then a week :)

Crazy, lucky me now living there..

YIKES! No internet sucks donkey ass :D
