You joking right?
QUOTE]

I could be very wrong. I have been many times. The main reason I say that though is because the domain would be used as more of a showcase than something that actual sales can take place under.

Well, the very same should apply to VODKA.com ($3,000,000)

I won`t sell Pasta.com for less than $500,000

And I won`t sell my Pasta.in for less than $5,000

Pasta is part of a ZILLION $ industry wordlwide. You name it and everybody KNOWS IMMEDIATELY what are you talking about. How powerful is that?

Reading some of the comments, if this domain sells for $100K, we're all in trouble. I feel it's worth more.

Anyone know the situation with the current owner? Looks like they produce pasta, unless the current site is just leasing the name.??

I think its worth more than 100k too but this current market sucks. Look at aftermarket.com. How many 100k+ sales will take place under that domain? As long as its used to sell domains, they'll be making tons of money off it but it only sold for $125k.

Saying pasta.com doesn't have a use on the internet is pretty narrow minded. Get it through your heads that the internet isn't just for making online sales. It's about marketing your brand and building brand awareness.

If someone is looking for a recipe, you want them to see your brand. If someone is looking for cooking information, you want them to see your brand. If someone wants to know ANYTHING about pasta, you want them to see your brand. By acquiring such a domain, you are also keeping the competition from using it against you.

It's worth at least 500k-1m but as with other domains like this, I would not be surprised if it sold for more.

I agree with you, furthermore you could make a redirect as some of the big company does with their generic domains.

pasta.com -> barilla.com , dececco.it or whatever

Heheh :)

I'm Canadian (from Vancouver) living on the south coast of Spain (Costa del Sol near Gibraltar).

Good football match tonight too!

Of course, they could do whatever they want with it. A redirect to a special landing section of their site would be appropriate. Much like the previous discussion about candy.com.

I would put pasta.com on similiar pricing with eggs.com - neither will be used for ordering takeout, but can be used for brand-awareness, recipes, nutrition information.
Eggs.com sold earlier this year for $112,500 on Sedo.

Check out the dancing pasta on pasta.com.

I disagree. The amount of Pasta sold worldwide and the companeis involved in the industry should be much greater than the EGG`s ones.

Not to mention the profits.

eggs.com is just an ok comparison. there are not really national or international brands of eggs (with a few exceptions).

There are international brands of pasta, but they already have a brand name that they want to advertise and probably little use for pasta.com.
There is an egg industry that advertises, lobbies, educates, etc very heavily in the US. There isn't much of a 'pasta industry'.

anyway, 2 days left, so we will soon find out how much it reaches.
