.....use many of those SAME domains I listed on this forum, I was able to sell to end users for 4 to 10 times the amount I was asking here.

To me that seems to be a low difference. I would suspect end-users pay more than 4-10 times what domainers pay.

What i would like to know is how many DN members sell there domains on this forum , going thru the posts i would Guess the percentage is very low ?

What really gets me going is that when we get a offer on a domain and except it the buyer does not pay , those people should have there DNforum account terminated .

Well, I'd like to start a petition to get rid of high-ballers. It really frustrates me when people offer me more money than I want for my domains.

Who's with me?

None of you seriously think the OP was suggesting a ban do you?.... I took it as humor.

The issue is that so many posts are asking for offers but don't state a range or minimum.

OPs have nothing to blame except themselves when they receive offers in the $xx range when they want six or seven figures for the domain but don't say it.

no one buys expensive domains on forums, and not many good domains are listed on forums. You do find the rare gems for good prices if your !!! Its so rare when it happens it sells with in a nano second.

Low ball offers are the lifeline of forums, with out them the forums would crash. If a domain is worth big money I would not post it on a forum in the first place, you will always receive the worst offers you can imagine on forums.

Forums are the best place to sell domains you failed to flip!

Barefoot, I was going to say the same thing after I read the thread.

If I were the admin, I would create 3 forums:
1 high baller
2 middle baller
3 low ballerina room only

Why can't people thought of that?

On the other hand, how do you know? The price, I mean.

Lol

A domain is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

If you refuse offers and the domain ends up dropping, you're a terrible business person and will fail in this industry. If you do that, you are the exact reason that this industry has such a bad name. Example:

1. You buy a domain for 10.

2. You are offered 100.

3. You refuse the 100 despite it being a 900% ROI/profit, and wait for that dream million dollar deal when Microsoft release a product with the exact same name as your domain.

4. That never actually happens, so after a year of not being used at all, the domain drops and another domainer picks it up and does exactly the same beginning at point #1 again.

It's stubborn and deluded to operate in that way. Not to mention, it completely pisses off your potential client base so much (by what they see as 'wasting' a really good domain while it's not doing anything) that a huge percentage of that client base vow never to work with "them cyber squatters" ever again.

I repeat: something is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. Stop dreaming.

What if I paid $60 for the domain and you offered me $50, and then I allowed it to drop instead?

I agree it's bad business practice to do that, but maybe I can afford it... It's a tax write off anyway.

It's not always about money you know, for some people it's more about principle.

As for failing and being a terrible business person, I've been in the business for roughly 10 years now... If my business practices were bad, I think I would of failed a long time ago.

I agree with some people here that if you don't like low ball offers, just state the range. e.g. Offers to start from mid x,xxx .

If someone does low ball offers despite this, report to moderators to remove this and take action for this. People want domains here at reseller prices and not end users and I believe over 95 % here are resellers.

Ditto. The principle of it is the main reason I let 100s of names drop instead of offering them for sale. Why would I reg a name several years ago and have paid multiple renewal fees and then sell it on the forum for low $xx - which is more than invested in it, plus the considerable time and management involved since it was reg'd is wasted too. In effect I would be giving someone my time, effort and investment all for peanuts. No way that will happen. I would prefer to let BuyDomains or a domainer get it on auction for a more fair price even though I get nothing.

Same thing with names which get higher offers from end-users (who may be cleverly disguised as non-profit organizations, or very small businesses with no money). For example, a name I have been paying for and using for say 4 or 8 years and gets a low or mid $xxx offer. After all those years of management, love and nurturing how can we possibly sell it for $xxx (even if it makes little money or has low traffic)?

You just don't seem to get it. Selling at a loss of $10 is better than selling at a loss of $60. Principle is just a synonym for stubborn and deluded.

I propose that we start a petition to replace the domain forum with a political/controversial forum.

We can have a little section for domaining but that will be hidden from public view.

The new name will be Democracy Non-Facto.

Will low ball offers be offset with forum fees collected on a percent of domain sales?
