Can someone kindly help me in extracting the email address from www.tom.com . The website is in Chinese IDN which I can't read. The reason I need the email address is because I would like to offer them TomPodcast.com to see if the may be interested. I have just been approached by a UK company interested in TomPodcast.com but obviously want to sell to the top bidder, I understand that Tom.com was sold for about 1 million dollars. Any help in extracting the contact email from tom.com or advise on how I should aproach thi would be very welcome....Thanks!

You are clearly a total novice at this. My advice is would be to employ an intermediary who is fluent in Chinese.

Anyway, Whoising the site IDN gives the following details:

Yule.com (Entertainment) recently bought by Chinese for 20k.

It's a reseller price, but it looks like they're going to develop it...it just went way too cheap, they'll do well much more easily with such a name

Btw, http://百度.cn is not owned by Baidu.com

Yes, it is being squatted as is the dot com.

I would think it will be a formality for Baidu to Wipo that when they need it!

Latest indications are that IDN.cn are now resolving on all browsers including IE6 without a pluggin. In the short-term that is very a definite advantage to the ccTLD over the dot com. In the longer-term Pinyin is dead as the Dodo.

After 5 yrs since I started this thread, Pinyin is still number 1 choice for the chinese web address.
IDN is going nowhere imo!

Yes, and i'd love to be able to say that IDN has taken off in
China but the truth is, it hasn't!

Back in 2003/4, I too was full of Chinese IDN rhetoric, about
how it would "wield an axe" over Pinyin and make it beg for
mercy.

I thought that feelings of nationalism in China would surely
propel Chinese IDN to the forefront, and lets not forget, it
does reflect their own language.

I was wrong 'though. Lesson learned... ;)
