Its got to be worth 5 - 10 mill to the "right" company

I am surprised the global brands have not ripped the buyers arm off the purchase it

Global Brands have their established names. To use something like this could potentially dilute the brand name. I would assume that the domain would be purchased by a domain investor and made into a Portal.. seeing as Dominoes and PizzaHut both have affiliate programs this could potentially generate its investment back in less than 2 years.

Agreed. It would not make sense to dilute their own brand name by using the domain pizza.com.

However it does open the doors for a new brand to be created. I can think of nothing better than a chain of home delivery pizza shops named Pizza.com
Thats what i would do if i had the money.

To let a name like this go to someone else could potentially carve a big slice out of the big name players market share, maybe multiple slices. I could easily see this one eventually all over TV day and night for home and office delivery, any way you like it. "Pizza.com. We do pizza right." This could also easily be financed by another big company looking to diversify.

2.2 million and 4+ days to go...doesnt look like we're in too much of a "domain slump"

I would use it in the same fashion as Barnes & Noble uses Book, and Books.com - another pair of ultra quality names that have single handedly allowed BN to compete with Amazon online

BTW: Fund, Office and Diamond are the same level keywords as Pizza. Diamond ,com has been sold for 7.5 Mil. in May 2006. Fund ,com has been just sold for 10 mil (end user sale).

So we still have some room here.

I just love watching auctions like this one. My guess is 6m, but I hope I'm low just for the sake of domain business.

The bidding sure is heating up and getting extra thick.

I hope whoever buys this brings back the days of real full portions of toppings instead of spreading every one you pay for into one skimping equivalent of one. I will gladly spend a lot of money online for anyone who will do that and restore pizza to what it used to be.

Pizza just isn't the same anymore.

Alot of companies STILL don't realize the value of a generic keyword domain name. Once an enduser gets their hands on it, the competition will probably Never have the opportunity to own it, dooming their business to second rate status.

I suspect there are potential shill bidders involved in this one. Let's wait and see if the winner follows thru to complete the deal.

Three bidders above the $2m mark - let's hope it's legit and these three are all end users.
