Other than the victim with two broken legs, I'm glad to hear that nobody else was seriously hurt.

Just saw it on the news - very, very lucky not to be all dead. The pilot must've been brilliant.

I thought for sure you would post how strange this was that it happened the very day Bush gave his farewell speech and that it took place in New York, Or are you still working on the conspiracy theory that perhaps this was inside job planned by the Bush administration?

"Bush could not possibly be behind Flight 1549 because........"

Truly remarkable job by the pilots and by all the boat captains who got straight out to the aircraft in moments after the plane ditched to help people on board. They too are heros in preventing secondary exposure injuries, as temperatures were around 30 deg F (-1 C) when the plane went down.

I also thought there was some pretty amazing video of the plane being towed in the water.

Some other people deserve credit.

Sure, the plane captains deserve most of the credit for getting the plane down safely *and* landing it as such that it didn't sink right away.

The passengers and crew for the plane who didn't get into a panic and were able to get everyone out of the plane before it sank

The captains and the crews of the ferry boats who quickly responded to get people off of the plane and out of the water (throwing life jackets into the water to the victoms and getting cradles out to pluck people out of the water.

The Coast Guard for getting there quickly and pulling many people out of the water.

Other than the victim with two broken legs, I'm glad to hear that nobody else was seriously hurt.

That is nothing short of a miracle.

secondly, i was a firefighter in London Fire Brigade for 13 years, we proudly considered ourselves, the biggest, oldest and best in world. I think every fireman in London, i hope to speak for them, would say nyc fireman are heroes of biblical proportions. i salute you guys. let me say, you cannot drill or prepare for this shit. you guys were awesome. what i saw tonight was synergy between private and public services and was awestruck. it left me buzzin. simply outstanding.

FDNY (Fire Department of New York (City)) and NYPD (New York (City) Police department) rock (Even before 9-11). Outside of the military, you will have a hard time finding a finer and braver group of people in the world. When I lived in NJ I knew a few of them - great people, too.
