Is there a waiting period before you can resell a domain name that you have registered?

I have heard it is 60 days before the registry will accept a change of ownership.

Or is the 60 days the domain-hold period when a name is being deleted?

Thanks for any help; I have some domains I want to sell and basically wondering how long I have to wait.

If you registered a domain name from enom, opensrs or godaddy. You can change the whois information anytime you want though you can't transfer this domain to another registrar before 60 days. This is the same approach, when you successfully grab a name from snapnames. The 60 days grace period will effect on the winning registrar.

In enom you can push the domain to another enom retail/reseller account.

In opensrs you can change the profile to the new owner or move this domain to a existing profile.

Hope this help.

Cheers,
tw

TheWatcher is correct. The registrars vary in their "ownership transfer" red tape.. Read the contract, and know your rights as owner.

goodluck

Wait a second; I think I misunderstood (again): you mean that if I'm with GoDaddy I can change ownership on the domain to someone else as soon as the next day? (I am with GoDaddy.)

I'm not talking about changing registrars BTW, just ownership.

Johnm,

If you go to www.godaddy.com and login to manage your domain names. Click on the domain name you want to change ownership, then you will see the "change owner" link. All you have to do is follow the step-by-step instruction for authentication.

The site (godaddy) also provide FAQ regarding this process.

Hope this help.

Cheers,

I know how to do it, I was just wondering if it can be done right away after you're registered.
