You wanna bet, front? Politics.us is a perfect name for a lot of platforms and dear to the heart of many. I just think that when a fellow domainer has to give it up for such a low price perhaps for financial reasons, its really sad.

That name could even be turned into a book.

It's one of the most powerful .us around for relevancy, and we chuck it around like a deflated balloon? *sigh*

Hey kid, if I had the insights for the near future back in 1995 when I first logged on to the internet with my 33k modem, I would not be here on DNF today.

On the internet, always think 3-5 years ahead. What's cosy now, is a formula for disaster in the years to come. Our company thrives today because we reject the past. And think only for the successful next turn.

I know, that sucks. Getting out of the comfort zone and everything without any other evidence than a gut feel and subjective sensitivity to what may/could/should help our clients or ourselves. But to us, survival depends on that.

Politics.us sends reverberations through my heart. Like a melody of future promise.

.biz to you now is cheesy. But remember, .com to most of the world back in 1995 was cheesy too. What was .commercial? Yucks. Commercial is/was representative of the old economy. Nobody uses commercial nowadays to describe their business. The internet community never had a choice in the past. Today, they do, and freedom, will liberate.

I've emailed gregr to see if he wants to set up a vbulletin forum and run it in exchange for half ownership, that would probably be the best option. Then the site could potentially make money along the way or be sold with high traffic at some distant point in the future.

Here is my offer, it's really open to any good reasonable professional person.

Programmer & Webmaster wanted - own Politics.US free
CRUCIFY POLITICS.COM

www.politics.us
One of the best pieces of real estate on the net.

THE MISSION:
*Develop and operate Politics.US
*Deploy a discussion board like vbulletin or phpbb (which is free).
*Also use free copy of DigiChat provided by Digi-Net technologies if desired.
*Several professional editorial cartoonists are already lined up to provide their cartoons to the site, free of charge.
*The editor of Campaigns and Elections magazine is sincerely interested in pursuing a partnership, make it work if you can.
*This project mainly requires skills and time, and you can of course bring others into it with you. Once the site is set up and the initial users are there, as a community site, it can run itself without inordinate attention by the administrator(s). Community members can moderate the site.

THE PAYOFF:
*You own the majority of any profit the site makes. (through ads/products, whatever)
*You get 50% when the site is sold or a percentage stake is sold.

THE ONLY PROVISO: the site should be nonpartisan moderated and marketed, a free speech forum, the "talkback live" of the net.

please email [email protected] w/ resume including example sites (that you've done or can replicate)

I happen to think setting up a free speech forum is an excellent use for the domain name. If you go back and read my original post, you will realize that I don't think it's a bad name, I just don't see anyone paying big bucks for it. As it stands, it looks like the owner will be developing it himself - an outcome consistent with my analysis.

I hope and expect it to do great things. Best of luck!

deist - Nice image on the site...

I think something interesting could be done with this. I agree though, individuals would want a name associated with their campaign or agenda.

I would like to take you up on your offer, but do not do design / development work.

I hope you find a taker, this is as good a place as any to advertise.

I say hold onto it, unless you want to sell it to me cheap :)

These differences in opinion are what markets are made of. Without them, we have no market, so just go with your gut and make sure you can live with your decision. It's that simple.

Heat indicated: “…sentiment can be described as: "the new tlds suck, have no value… …if they do "make it" [.INFO and .US] their value is likely to be very handsome. My own speculation is that it'd be around 25-30% of a .com name; much higher in select cases…”

Well stated Heat. I agree 100%.

But I would like to thank every one of the dot.com followers that now appraises .info and .us at “between $50 and reg fee”. Why? It was because of their LACK of belief in .INFO or .US that Heat and myself were able to get 10 times as many good names at the land-rushs. So, thank you non-believers.

It also makes sense that the 100% .com followers do not now want to send their buyers to my domains. Regardless, every day that goes by .INFO and .US mature.

William9, although I agree .info and .us will mature your going a bit astray if you think .com is going to rot. Com will stay king for most businesses for as long a domains are utilized. No need to water down your argument with that kind of off the wall comment.
