Anyone sold a site or domain for a few bucks and then found out a few months on etc that the new owner is raking in the money and the traffic on the site is your wet dream

Now I have done it the other way - bought a domain for stupid amount of money and its now worth less than a condo in florida ( about $10 )

post your story

No horror stories, but it's a sickener when you see a name you sold for $xx a couple of years back, on DNJ sold for $2k - happened just a couple of weeks back!

Can't win 'em all....

It was a hand reg and I put a low starting figure on it at TDNAM so it was my own fault! I wouldn't bother now, knowing what I know.

I'm still regging names expecting to have to renew them several times before they sell.

I've experienced the opposite. I sold a nice mid XX,XXX ecommerce website once, and the new owner stripped it down to a bare bones AdSense site. Within 2 months he was delisted from Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Man I bet that hurt.

Months ago I regged about 80 LLLL.com's and deleted them couple days later as I had gotten cold feet about the whole LLLL buzzzzz.

Not sure where in Florida you can buy a condo "cheap"; I would assume Miami has lots of new construction and fewer sales but they do not depreciate that quickly.

I don't mind when I sell domains cheap and then the new owners build something nice there, which I hope will make them a lot of $. Good example: Movies.sc

Beginner's Luck...

Bought my first website for $37 and sell it back in a few days (after a revamp) for $1000.

Now, i'm in love with domaining industry. :)

yes, it's hard to stop buying when you still find good names to reg.

but if you see good names and don't take them, you know someone else will.

I came within a hair of fresh-regging ( monsters .ca ) maybe 5 years ago, then found out recently the person who did reg it (a member here) sold it for low $xx,xxx last year. I was looking at that name for a few weeks back then, and my hesitation cost me.

I got offered $90k about 7 years ago I refused and for a .co.uk and its worthless now :(
The company bought another similar domain and went on to be massive in the UK. I am left thinking how greedy I was
