Forgive a beginner's question, but is there a way to preview how Metadata will appear in a search engine index? The reason I ask is because on one of my sites, the Metadata looks sloppy. It uses the content itself (it's a blog) rather than a brief summary for the meta description.
It is a Wordpress site, so I think it's one of the plugins.

Here's the thing: I'd rather leave the plugins install and simply try to tweak the code itself. But I'm not sure how to check it instantly to see if what I'm doing is working. Is there a program that does this? Anything in the site pages changes instantly, so I can always verify my work there, but I can't do this with Meta tags because Google doesn't refresh instantly. If it does, then that means my attempted changes didn't do anything. I tried a web search, but either I'm looking for the wrong thing, or this is not a concept that has not caught on (which I doubt).

All you have to do to check how your meta tags look is to view your pages source code.

FireFox - Right Click > View Page Source
Internet Explorer - Right Click > View Source
Chrome - Right Click > View Page Source
Safari - Right Click > View Source
