Why don't you post them here instead of linking to a forum that we need to register on?

I always send off DNF$ to the person who listed an expired domain. Why do I have to post "I registered xxxxx.com"?

Use a live WHOIS tool, even Enom's tool of registering domains will tell you instantly if a domain has been taken or not. This way you don't waste 5 minutes looking up the popularity of whichever domain.

However, you at least acknowledged by posting when you registered php5.biz
for $ 6.95.

I learned along time ago that it doesn't cost anything to say "thank you".

I do check the whois at Enom when it is a .com and .net. But, that is
only a small probability of indicating if it is already registered.

And, yes. The final answer is to attempt to register it. (But, before you
investigate the name?)

:-D Perhaps that was my mistake; some people don't feel "it's right" to buy a domain that someone just grabbed for a reg fee. So publicising my purchase of PHP5.biz for under $7 potentially cost me a sale - it's a good name after all.

On the subject of the solution I just mentioned, you don't have to register domains to see if they are taken or not. Just go to http://www.enom.com/domains/Register.asp and enter the domain you want to look up; it will return a red "X" for each TLD taken for that name.

Incidentally, the "Thank you" always arrives in a PM along with the DNF$. It's a private communication between the poster of the expired domains and the buyer.
