Thanks to everybody for contributing.

Of course--nobody can match the truckload of names that Whois-Search posts--but every little bit helps. I noticed that CDBASE.com is also taken now--added to AutoReplicas.com & GiantTV.com--that's atleast 3 solid names that will help somebody.

Good work--give yourselves a pat on the back. :D

PERSISTANCE PAYS! PERSISTANCE PAYS!

Hello. I just got a big, fat, REAL NAME, generic, commercial dotcom on a drop. This changes my picture.

It happened off-the-top of my head, by accident. I was involved in a biz transaction, and there was a legal term describing the type of transaction. It is a common term, involving billions of dollars annually in a very large industry. I thought, no use trying to register a name like that, but being a die-hard, I went to urlbuyers.com, and used their search tool, which is my favorite, my secret revealed here for the first time.

Because the name is within my field, Ill be developing it immediately, and will reveal the name here soon, within days, as the first site will be built. I hope at long last this will enable me to command a modicum of respect, as I am a fugitive from afternic days, as many people here well know.

It is not respect that I crave, rather I only seek to help and serve people who may get some benefit from my experience, as a good deeder.

The moral of my story example is this: I have for about two years, attempted to cram elephants into sardine cans. I have registered tensof thousands of dollars worth of names, because I thought they might be catchy enough to brand. Certainly, I pesevere with that. I was lucky enough that one made-up name I had happened to be the call letters of a corporation, I earlier reported that deal.

But all of that was done because I had never succeeded in getting a real name. I did have lienloan.com and loanlien.com as coming close, but in actuality those terms are not used in practice, even tho logic ought to have them in use.

Today's name however, is the buzzword for thousands of daily transactions in the US, so Im cool, and dont have to twist this. Thus, in my case, I didnt use drop services, I just checked a name that I was certain would be registered, and it wasnt, and I got it.

Therefor, I suggest domain buyers keep a close eye on the buzzwords of their own various businesses, and even though they may be taken today, there is hope you can get one. If I can get one, you can too.

Whadya mean, did I get it? I said I got it in my first sentence. Oh, I guess you are joking.

Whynt I tell the name? Well jeez, if Im misunderstood from the very first sentence, what would be the point?

Me, excited? Nah. Too excited to be understood? Nah. thaz a slap at me. Nothing new. I get beat on by illerates alla time.

Do I love ya? Ha.

If you wanna b serious, mayb Ill tell you a few things. Like for example, in my experience, if you tell a name right after you get it, sometimes people will imitate, and get similiar spaces that on afterthought you should get yourself. Like for xample, if you get sex.com on a drop, you oughtnt brag too fast, else you might miss the chance to get sexes.com too. Especially from someone who doesnt appreciate.

This then might open the question: whats the ACTUAL difference tween this place and afternic. I mean, the REALLY REAL DIFFERENCE?

I deal a lot with insurance companies. They sometimes pretend that Im too excicited to be understood. But ultimately, they pay up when they see Ill sue them. Ultimately, i speak the english language. no joke.

BIBLICAL MESSAGE: do not cast ye pearls before swine. If you want something from me, then dont come wasting my time.

The point is, that if you are a chickenfarmer, you might think you cant get chickenfarmer.com, but you might somehow get it. Im saying check names that you can use in your own business.

Hey Man! Women and children first! All you need is love! Things are cool.

OK. Ill confess. What I got ain't so stupendous. Probably nobody here would even be impressed. Lemme explain some more, for whatever it is worth.

I can't tell you the exact name. The reason is that I register names in sets. If I go in on a subject, I usually get the singular, plural, variations, mispellings, and dash-versions. This runs up into serious money. Sometimes, I may get a dozen, or I may miss one of the set, perhaps the best one. So, I may be holding an investment hopin the thing I REALLY WANT,the real bragging rights will jump into my lap. If I post spilling my guts here, Im just diminishing my chances by inspiring people to possibly block me in my endeavors. Then I am a fool for cutting my own throat.

I would think you all would know this. If a person has no intention to register names, its fine to display free thought stream of consciousness/ But if you may need , NEED!, to register the names, then you have to keep your private parts modest.

So, let's say you are a gynecologist. Fresh out of school, owing 1/2 million in student loans and bleary eyed fromlookin at whatyou been lookin at 100 hours a week. You want to be famous and go on talk shows lets say.

You cant get gynecologist.com. So you try for menstrualcycle.com. You get it. Thaz a score! Some people might say, oh, its two words. True. Some people might say its long and hard to spell. Thats also true. But if this dr can get on Oprah, the status conferred from menstrualcycle.com, for HIM, IN THAT SITUATION, is better than whatever.

Now, he really ought to have menstrual-cycle.com too, if he is asking a group of investrs to put up a million. so he gets that, and also menstrual-cycles.com, but menstrualcycles.com is taken. He comes here and brags he has got the singular, so somebody puts the plural on snapnames, and he could maybe have got it day after tomorrow, buthis stethoscope is too slow, and the name bleeds to somebody else.

Then some smartaleck cookie thinks, wow, what a subject. and REGISTERS DRMENSTRUALCYCLE.COM HO ho!

Why didnt young dr in love THINK OF THAT! Bcause he DID, only a day late and a dollar short. Thaz my problem.

So, when I got my name, I spent an xtra 150.00 on support names, and am looking to register more.

You got the gist. RECAP:

THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF GENERIC BUSINESS TERMS, OF MORE THAN ONE WORD. You can get them now. Reselling them, well, I never claimed anything about resalebility. ALL I AM SAYING BESIDES GIVE PEACE A CHANCE, is:

IF YOU ARE IN BUSINESS, think about generic terms FOR THAT BIZ. Then you can use the name if you can use the name. thats all im saying. actually what I got isnt very important to anybody but me.

Im like drmenstrualcycle. I am happy with law terms that I might be able to use to increase my marketing thru some implied status in having it. However, making an actual profit remains to be seen.

Lastly, Im no better than anybody else here. If I seem nasty, its only for failure in trying to be funny and entertaining. For that, I maintain apologies as standard operating procedures.

Now I am thoroughly confused.

I've talked to two foreigners or emmigrants online today (both members at DnF). I just asked a simple question. Both thought I was trying to make fun of them or fool them. Why? I have nothing but good-hearted intentions. Is it a cultural thing? Or am I doing something wrong?

You tell us to "give peace a chance" yet when some one uses smilies in replies you think they are being sarcastic and mocking you. Isn't that a little paranoid and cynical? No one is out to get you or mock you.

I will just chalk it up to being difficult to convey emotion correctly through text.

I was
  • genuinely happy for you.

I wasn't
  • making fun of you.
  • making a slap at you.
  • trying to be swine.

I will
  • avoid asking you questions in the future.
