If I have a website and would like to build one for canada & uk for instance

google.com

and I wanted

google.ca
google.co.uk

would I need to incorporate in the US and would that then allow me to register these other domains in other countries. What exactly can I do other than having a "friend" register it for me. I don't want to go that route.

There are no residence requirements (or any other restrictions for that matter) in registering co.uk's.

So if I live in the US and register a .CO.UK at ENOM I should put in "individual" and that is perfectly fine?

With regards to .CA what if someone registers it for me whom is a canadian citizen and meets the requirements for me? Is this acceptible. (gordon?)

In short, NO! Of course, if you are not listed as the registrant (a.k.a. owner), you don't need to meet any local presence requirement; however, I don't think it's a good idea at all.

Well Google doesn't have a Canadian address for google.ca

Admin-Postal: Google Inc.
2400 Bayshore Parkway
Mountain View CA
94043 United States of America

So can you delete their domain please?
I am sure they clearly are not incorporated in canada.
Nor are they using a canadian address.

Mountain View is clearly in CALIFORNIA

Not using a Canadian address in the whois does NOT mean that they (Google) do not have a Canadian address. FYI: They are at 130 King Street West (Suite 1800), Toronto.

and I will stop there.....

So are you telling me all of these companies share the same office at Suite 1800? I don't think so. Obviously someone is meeting these imaginary "office" qualifications for them and forwarding both mail and phone messages to another location most likely within the united states.

"Bayshore Parkway" maybe?

LOL! Funny, but with such an established corporation as Google, you'll bet they MUST HAVE MET the Canadian presence requirements which happens to cleverly encompasses trademarks registered in Canada (link listed earlier in this thread). (I guess THAT *might* be an alternative route for you.)

But the point here is that if you do not meet ANY of those requirements, you probably don't want or need a .ca. To be frank, I'm not particularly excited about being Canadian and eligible of registering .ca domains.

I think that Canada has a lot in common with the US as well as the UK. To focus on these territories with regards to my company and directing services specially targeted at these two regions to me seems a benefit for everyone involved. I was not intending to speculate on .ca domains just simple establish a presense there in whatever legal way possible to follow suit in the same way google and others have. I did not think of the "trademark" route. I will do some research. If anyone has worked with this before please PM me, give website links, or let me know if you can assist and if so what your consulting fees are.
